    It's happening again!

The Sheriff is pressuring his Sergeants and Lts to drop out of the union. He is using his district Commanders to pressure subordinates to withdraw from the union, on duty of course. History will repeat itself. If you would like to know if other agencies are happy with the promises made by their administration in exchange to drop their union, you can start with the recent threads over at the Sarasota SO LEO Affairs Page. It's never as its promised.

Its more what then can due for you. If you need an attorney because the agency violated your officer bill of rights in an investigation, or if your involved in an incident like George Floyd. Try paying out of pocket for an attorney and see what the coast is compared to the union.

Think about what is going on in this country right now to cops. Just stop and watch any media sources, pick one. Your very freedom is at risk every second you where that uniform. You could end up in prison on your next call. Wokeism should be enough to make you have a union. If Bill Prumell doesn’t want you to have a union he doesn’t care about you. If you are still stopping blacks looking for dope. You are a freaking idiot. I ask you why? Why? Just stop and stay out of jail. UNION!

DeHart was the labor rep for the union at the jail and you see what it got him. It's a clear message that if you're union you have a target on your back.

He was a labor representative who was very active with the union, along with his wife, who was also unjustly fired. Trust me, regardless of your opinion of KD, in the end she retired a LT, not a dispatcher. It doesn't take a scientist to figure out she won the lawsuit.

MD now unfortunately has to go through the lawsuit process for vindication. However, by the time that settles, nobody will remember who he is since the CCSO turnover rate is greater than state DOC.

The fact is, you are far better off with paying the FOP 20 bucks every pay period than taking the chance of going alone to an IA or MCU interview without an attorney present. This place is looking to burn people at every turn so you best have some protections other than the current breeze of the sheriff's office.

Good example of the agency screwing deputies is Akers. He was a deputy at the jail that was attacked by an inmate, an inmate that stated, "I'm going to kill you." He received a serious injury from the attack. The agency treated it like any other on the job injury. The agency had him burn all his leave. When returned to work he spoke with MD and was informed of the law, but since he wasn't a member the union couldn't represent him. RA went through the process on his own and informed risk management who said they'd get back to him. When they did he was served with a two day suspension and reprimand for misuse of leave. He had to get his own lawyer and ended up settling on the condition he had to immediately resign. The settlement was a joke. If he'd been union and informed of his rights from the beginning it may have gone better for him.

Very well said. This agency makes everyone go through the "process". You have to fight for your rights under the law. I always found it sad that a law enforcement agency ignores the law when it comes to those protecting the officers. What it comes down to is if you want to go it alone, or with the union. I've always preferred to have numbers when going into a fight.
