You totally missed the point too. You can't be a deputy. The point was he stopped to put on his vest when he disciplined deputies for doing the same, THEN changes policy afterwards. Nobody mentioned full gear, please keep up.

Debate on duty or not all you want. He had his side arm and radio and badge period. If your off duty and have your side arm radio and badge and an active shooter situation began. If you stop to go to your trunk to get other gear e.g. vest and rifle while shots are being fired, Tony will terminate you.

Problem here Twatley, the man was off duty. I know for a fact that you were barely prepared for duty while you were on the clock. I don’t know of any cop that drives around with his vest on, holding his rifle while driving to lunch off duty. Apparently in your retirement you have become an expert in all things law enforcement. He was off duty fool. In shorts and a tshirt. He saw an incident and took action. Most of you cowards would’ve turned your head and kept driving. He went home after and put on his uniform knowing he would be giving a press conference. It’s really simple and nothing nefarious to the intelligent observer.
