    Raises??? Loss of specialty pay???

We know starting pay is going up to $56,000 for new deputies, but why are they taking specialty pay away or reducing it for TAC and CIS? If this is true, the SSO, sorry, the SCSO, will be helping brand new employees and punishing the agencies senior and hardest working employees. Talk about a kick in the pants. New employees get a $12,000 raise and senior people get punished. I hope this is not true.

You want more employees, how about we start being an “actual” law enforcement agency and open the take home car mileage. There’s a thought.

I didn’t say Tampa, Miami, or the moon. I would like to live in a nice area. And no, I’m not living in North Port.

Some people don’t have rich wives, lol.

Come on! The increase is designed to attract new employees. Look at our staffing.

Tell me, why does the brass get an 8k while others lose money?!? For those in the middle they might as well quit and get rehired. You’ll make more money!

    Disrespectful

The whole thing is disrespectful to senior deputies. How can deputies with more than 2 years on be paid the same or less than new deputies just hired? Those that do get an increase get either a very small, 100s of dollars a year or no increase at all. A 7 year Sgt got an increase of $16 a year. The TAC unit folks had $2000 taken from them. So unlike what the agency stated,, employees DID lose money!! Captains got a $4.01 an hour raise!!! That is over $8300/year. Our media director is now making $103,000 a year to answer media questions and make videos. Now she is also being sponsored to go to the police academy so she can get " High Risk" retirement. What a scam on the tax payers!! Even the LTs got boned in this circus. The best part is the HR director and the CFO both got $8300/ year raises. No offense to dispatchers but how can they top out at a higher dollar amount than deputies. They have 11 steps and make over $2000 more topped out than deputies out on the road!! Unacceptable!! Deputies top out at $71450 and multimedia specialists, media relations specialists, case managers and reentry navigators as well as others top out at $79891. How is that fair and equitable? We have deputies in patrol making more money than their own Sgts!!! I could go on and on. Bottom line is we all know we need new hires, but when you get them by stepping on all of your senior people in the Courts, Corrections and Law Enforcement Divisions and giving yourselves and all the civilians raises, it shows what staff really thinks of deputies. Overnight we went from the highest moral I have ever seen, to almost outright mutiny. Maybe it is time to unionize the SSO!! I never thought these words would come from my mouth, but Herald Tribune please do some investigative reporting on this. The citizens of Sarasota have a right to know how their Deputies are being treated by their new Sheriff. Before this he was very well liked and respected by most.

We had a union here and the arsekissers helped knigtmare and hoffy get rid of it. Now the same issues that popped up back in the early 2000's are rearing their ugly head again. In order fr a union to work the rank and file need to be UNITED and backstab the reps. When Simon, Kiskey and Tinko are pushed the agenda that knigtmare would give raises if the union were abolished, these morons and those that voted to decertify the union bought into it. How'd that work out for you? I was there when the union was formed and unfortunately there are too many cowards in the agency to stand up for what's right.
