Who Is To Blame For This? Communications, Shift Change Delay or Slow Response?

In yet another incident on Friday, a Miami cyclist said he feels lucky to be alive after he was hit from behind by the driver of a speeding Jeep Cherokee on Brickell Avenue at 6:04 a.m. Calls to MPD get no dispatch?

After slamming into a light pole and tree and totaling his car, the driver fled the scene, walked back 30 minutes later to retrieve a backpack, attempted to flee again in an Uber, then walked away before police arrived, leaving a gun on the floorboard by the accelerator, according to witnesses.

Officer shows up after 7:00am....Too bad someone doesn’t care about this?

What do you learn from this, ride your bike on the sidewalk. I am surprised that more cyclists aren’t killed. They ride like if they are cars in the street. Maybe he will learn now.

Who's to blame? Piss poor, visionless leadership, from the police chief down to the area sergeant. The need to respond to and investigate priority calls during transfer hours is one that can be solved by having an over-lapping squad serving as cover during shift transfers; with the sergeant triaging calls according to their urgency, such as the one cited. When not engaged in transfer coverage, the squad can be utilized as a Hot Spots, preventive squad. Of course, when the Transfer Squad is off on its regular days off, the platoon commander will select two officers from each of the platoon squads to hold over to serve as the transfer squad. Of course, this will not happened, as patrol is woefully depleted, and there are too many officers in specialized units. It seems that long ago, having officers available to respond to priority calls for service during transfer time was discarded as a primary managerial requirement. We hope whoever, Mr. Noriega appoints police chief will address this failure.

First if he called at 0604 am hours it means that he was there before 0600 hours breaking the curfew that goes from 2400 to 0600 hours, just like he doesn't give a crap about traffic laws or respect decency for drivers on the road, those bicyclists have to respect traffic laws starting from riding their bicycle on the sidewalk or designate lane stopping at red lights and so on , i don't give a sh#t about another liberal democrat weekend warrior in brickell that thinks he owns the place
