Hate is the absence of love.
A large organization like BSO, hate usually flows first from the top. Some undeserving bias filled sergeants, lieutenants, captains and higher ranks are the initial originators. Some do it to people who are different than themselves due to color, gender, origin, language, sexual orientation, family, age, time in service, CCN, experience and others do it because that's their nature.

The moment that you have someone with rank inconsiderately write up, complain, throw under the bus, treat a deputy worst than they would threat someone on the streets, that's the initiator, the origin, the catalyst for hate to begin. Compassion, consideration, kindness, empathy and yes, LOVE have to start with your own family. If we treat the public well, we also need to treat each other even better within "the BSO family". We need to extend that love inwards and most definitely it will project outwardly. The citizens will see the natural consequence of such a culture change.

When you have an open door policy and that's just a make believe policy, and instead of talking directly and NOT to hurt someone's career, but you truly open the door to remedy a situation, to make it better next time. That's the way, that's the moment to take care of each other, to stop hate and to reinforce love.
🔹️Do you talk to citizens directly and tell them unafraid and openly that you are giving them a break?
🔹️Do you give them an opportunity to give you an explanation for their actions, before you screw them?
🔹️Do you write policies to devise a new way yo get deputies jammed up with petty things such as unintentionally missing court, PowerDMS and any other petty nonsense.
🔹️Do you support them when someone bogusly complain or worse are you one of those who actually complain, instead of telling the deputy with kindness and respect?
▶️ If you don't do that at minimum or more with your peers and subordinates, then you are the originator of hate. For hate to stop, negative traits must stop at the top. And NO! I am not talking about the top as Tony, because all that hate started way before he came. The hate starts at the top means people with rank that don't treat deputies with consideration, unless is one of their boys. Well, treat everybody in this uniform well, unless there is an outrageous crime that you would not cut a break to anyone. We know that there are some really good selfless ones who genuinely live by good principles.
Remedy: we ought to remember those bad ones and their names, spread their information and names to friends, fellow LEOs throughout the State and beyond, because when those bad and selfish ones retired and they ask for professional courtesy, give them the opposite. Give them what the gave their entire career, hate.
