    SM retiring ?

Rumor is that SM is retiring. Who will replace him in D&C?

    Old news

Terrible leader. Did nothing for us but coast out his retirement. You'd think someone who grew up in DDC would have cared a little about us. I understand it's not an easy job, but with recent events, DDC really needed someone to stick up for us and he just plain did not. Good riddens.

SM was handed clerical jobs and promotions most of his career, he was never a DDC floor supervisor because he is afraid of inmates. SM is one of the most anti-social and introverted people I have ever met on the job. He has been a nothing burger his entire career as far as taking care of his subordinates and backing them up. It would be hard to make a worse choice to lead the jail than SM. Hopefully we get a colonel with some balls and brains who can improve this dump because morale is at rock bottom and practically nobody likes to work here.

Instead of insults and name calling, hiding behind your keyboard, how about you enlighten us with your ideas on how to make the jail better.

That's the brass's job because they get paid the big bucks to figure it out. If they are not smart enough to know they should get out of the way and let someone else try it. Someone with leadership ability who is more in touch with real world operations and actively tries to fix the problems staff encounters. But that's not what they want because all of them are only concerned about their own little kingdoms, rank retention and promotions, and bank accounts. They are shameless azz kissers like SM who know that promotions and choice assignments are based on politics not ability and merit. Have to change the culture at the top in order to fix the jail's recruitment and retention problems, as well as working environment and morale.

While I agree that leaders have impacts they are not all knowing superheroes. The good ones surround themselves with bright people and are open to their ideas and feedback. Where is the personal responsibility? It takes little effort to come to work with a positive attitude. Each of us have the ability to impact those around us and the agency everyday.

Oh, okay. How about promote an inspirational leader who actually cares about what happens on the floor as much as they care about what the Sheriff thinks about their ass kissing abilities. Maybe promote someone who has actually done the job and knows what really happens. Promote someone who can keep the jail running smoothly but still recognize when child age is needed or that a problem exists. And instead of ignoring it because they think the Sheriff might get upset they discuss it in a constructive way. That would be a super great start. And I don’t see that happening with the smiling idiot new colonel.

This is a good start. Just show you give a shit. Come see us, walk the floors and actually say hello when you do! Come to our readoffs, ask questions and let staff ask you questions. Stand up for us! Be a ****ing leader!
