    FHP switched to 9 mm

Regardless of what you might hear or read, the motive for the switch was to save money. The 9 mm ammo is the cheapest of all centerfire pistol calibers and most mass produced. It uses less materials than .45 ACP and .40 S&W so that's where the cost savings comes from. Many other agencies have switched to the 9 mm as well for the same reasons.

Only a matter of time until the bean counters here figure out the numbers and urge the sheriff to make the switch in order to save money. It is actually quite surprising the administration has not switched already.

Decision based on FBI penetration testing. The 9mm provided reduced recoil, increased capacity, overall penetration and expansion benefits. The Glock Model 45 (9mm) is an exceptional firearm.

That it is but the administration will make the change to save money rather to provide better equipment for agency members.

The decision was based on the FHP being a notorious cheapskate. Just look the lousy pay and benefits. The FHP would issue water pistols if they could get away with it to save money.

The Glock Model 45, for those unfamiliar, is a 9mm with a compact (Glock 19) slide and a full size (Glock 17) frame. Excellent handling and still concealable for most. I would not object to having one for duty.
Remember, everything you have issued came from the lowest bid.

If all which have been issued were the lowest bid, why were we not issued Kel-Tech or Taurus handguns?

Well FHP did it so I guess it means it’s a good idea right?!? Who the F follows FHP’s footsteps? I guess we should shift our focus to only working crashes now since that’s what FHP does. Moron!!!
