Comparing hotel, restaurant workers, Disney employees, and public sector jobs lost.

Yes, these jobs are comparable to law enforcement, fire rescue, state attorney's office, and road maintenance private sector jobs. This is why your pensions will be lost. People like this being voted in ever year

Rodrigues, the Republican cop hater from Estero - along with all who vote with him.

Public sector employees, that's us, want pensions. To do away with them proves they do not care about the future of law enforcement.

Potential new cops do not want some jacked up ripoff 401K!

This state is going down the same road as California and these disgusting liberal run cities like Detroit.

The goal is to wind down the pension fund until the last retiree dies and no money is paid out. That means no new participants so the state 401k mandate will be applied to county employees as well very soon. Every county will have the option to participate in the state 401k plan or start their own pension plan, which is a very expensive and complex process. If not this year, maybe next year all new county employees will no longer be FRS pension fund contributors. The actuary study scheduled in March will support this move to the 401k. Each county will decide if will offer an employee match and how much. If you stand to collect a pension, better save up a lot of money for retirement in case the pension goes to s h i t. Good luck to all.

The lawsuits will wipe out our benefits long before we need to worry about FRS. HCSO is on the losing end of quite a few big lawsuits

Lawsuits against the county usually have capped financial liability limits. Law suits naming individuals will be paid by those individuals. So lawsuits do not have the overwhelming financial affect you are suggesting.
