Good bye FRS pension for newbie hires. Another reason not to go to work for the state. You are safe if you already work here but are stuck with the lack of COLA. One more kick in the nuts for state employees.

Another reason not to go to work for the state. Not that the pay was great to begin with anyway. Only the ones desperate for a paycheck will take this new deal. Good luck to all.

Good. Without the pension there is literally zero reason to choose the FDC over any other agency. While they're at it they should take away the 3% hazard since FDC leadership has decided that "officers" don't need to do any law enforcement functions and everything should be deferred to the Sheriff's Office or Municipal Police.

FDC Prisons are the worst in the country and FDC Probation is a waste of money.

The new employees will not be contributing to the FRS pension fund any more. They will be in a 401k.

So, if your in the FRS pension system, 3% becomes 10% because of no new members contributing to the FRS pension. Plus ever year more and more people retire the higher the contribution will become.

The people in the FRS pension will make up the short fall, until they are all gone.

New FDC hires will have a 401k to contribute to, which is optional. The pay is low enough already with little cash to spare for the 401k so they'll have to work until Social Security age or longer. Good luck getting anyone to work for FDC, except those desperate for a paycheck. Anyone with half a brain will go to county jails until those jails lose the pension too. At least those currently on the job are locked in, for now. It's one big giant cluster FK in the name of budget cuts.

The next trick will be when the state freezes the pension plan and switches everyone over to the 401k. That will cause a mass exodus from FDC aside from the ones who have a lot of time in the pension plan. FDC will be scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to hire new bodies. Get the popcorn ready.

Will the FDC provide the newbie hires with a year's supply of KY jelly or Vaseline to help out with the 401K ?

Hate to tell you this, but there will always be application's to fill positions at P&P. No matter what benefits are available. Unlike you, people want to earn a paycheck. Not just get it for doing nothing.
