Advice for agency brass from General Jim Mattis

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/former-de...214339356.html

If you want to be a respected and trusted leader Gen. Jim Mattis offers some advice on how to carry yourself and act. Know your people, trust them, listen to them, and back them up to best complete the mission.

Unless you’re people think more of themselves than the really are and need to have their hand held and azz wiped every step of the way. That works when there is competence but incompetence not so much.

And who hires and promotes these people? The brass who is too lazy and incompetent to do their own jobs let alone supervise others on how to do theirs. That's what you get when promotions are based on nepotism and politics rather than on merit. Reform of the promotional system is way overdue.

Oh and just how do you do that? Seems we’ve been there many times before.

Like Gen. Mattis said, it all starts with leadership.

They are not leaders just hogs fattening themselves at the taxpayer funded money trough.

Incompetent and corrupt brass selected for their political loyalty rather than ability.

This place cares more about optics than doing the job. But it’s not just here it’s all over law enforcement. The media cares more about vilifying cops than trying to help them. The least lack of discretion and you will be fired or maliciously prosecuted. It’s a sad state of affairs but it is what it is. You either deal with it or choose another career path. I would suggest you choose another career path. Good luck

Who needs leaders when you have a mountain of supervisors and slogans?
