Social Security
President-elect Biden proposes to eliminate the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offet (GPO). These provisions reduce Social Security benefits for workers with significant government pensions from jobs not covered by Social Security and for their spouses and survivors.
Why should we care, great question. Because if they push this through our fire police pension will cease to exist and we would roll into the general employee pension and Social Security.

Doesn’t apply to most TPD or TFR
Workers can’t face a WEP penalty unless they qualify for both a pension and a Social Security benefit. Workers would need to meet both eligibility thresholds— at least 5 or 10 years in a state pension plan and at least 10 years of Social Security contributions—before the WEP even comes into play.

Why, our pension existed before the WEP provision, so why would eliminating it force everyone into the general fund?
I would think the only thing it might eliminate is your social security payroll deduction exemption.
It’s been talked about going way for 25 plus years. Don’t loose any sleep worrying about it slim chance that is happening.

If you’ve paid 40 quarters into social security and are retired from TPD, the Windfall provision does apply to you when you elect to collect your Social Security
