Those Mandatory Policies are neccessary for that community. Your soft approach to crime fighting and hiding under the tree concept is why the black Northside Community is in total chaos.

I am far from any damn dictator as you so ignorantly listed. By the way instead of name calling why don't you list what you think can reduce crime in that devastated area.

There police leadership for what it is worth has failed all of that community. Unfortunately you wouldn't understand because one you do not work there and two you definitely do not live there.

All Mandatory Policies would reduce crime in that part of MIAMI-DADE COUNTY. Period!!!

PS: Mandatory Raises by 6% for the cops who dare to work Northside and not call there hook ups to get off the road. Of course you would no about that call.

    10. Mandatory Drug testing for all in custody criminals

These are but a few things to help this desolate and crime infested community.

Remove the handcuffs off of your officers and allow them to do their jobs without fear of termination and arrest.

Remove all incompetent command staff and first line supervisors who simply can't cut doing what is necessary.

You must cut out and burn out all of the Cancer in order for the body to heal!!!!

All this would increase crime. If everything thing is illegal you get more crime, dumbass. Example: if possession is illegal, then everyone carrying is committing a crime. Crime rates would go up %1000. And the headache of enforcing this would drive you people crazy!!!

Sad that you guys don’t really know what’s going on here. If you only knew how incompetent we are THEN you will see the issue.

It’s funny how some of you believe that law enforcement is the solution to high-crime areas. I am a 20-year veteran (plus). The real issue here is the belief that law enforcement alone can somehow solve these messes.
I believe in policing, and I believe in policing high-crime areas such as Northside more aggressively. But what happened back in the day when that was the norm? There were still shootings, there were still dopers, nighttime shooting sounding like firecrackers, dead black males bleeding out on 68 and 18 or 71 and 15 on the City side.

The problems in the high-crime area, or to label it more honestly, the poor black community, stem from years and generations of neglect and housing discrimination and overall lack of opportunities.
It’s created a whirlpool of misery that has become self-perpetuating. How aggressively do we police Kendall? How aggressively do we police Town of Miami Lakes? Besides the fact that it isn’t necessary, the moment you stop and frisk some judge’s or other connected person’s child or family member the phone starts ringing and you’re given a stern talking-to. Are there no illegal narcotics in these areas? Unlawfully carried firearms? Sure there are. Are there gunshots cracking at all hours? Fire rescue peeling dead people off the pavement with multiple GSWs? Nope.
The community tolerates what it will tolerate. People in these communities are likely to speak to law enforcement. More likely to bear witness, give a name, an accurate description. Cases get solved. No one gives a shit about some “snitching” nonsense. People will line up to tell the cops what they saw.

As long as people in the black community in the US fear and mistrust us, and pass that negativity down to their children, the criminal element will be protected. This, even as many in this community are slaughtered and imprisoned and addicted at a rate double any other demographic. When the cops drag your daddy away to prison, it’s a hard fact of life, but it doesn’t breed trust of law enforcement.
I guess that’s why this coffee with a cop stuff started, so that people start seeing us as something besides a paramilitary occupation. But you’re right, it’s a damn insincere joke. The gun is still on the hip, and we ain’t here to play with you. And when we flood those poor housing projects with tough cops bent on arresting lawbreakers, know what you get? Increased armed security for the dopers who don’t have to worry about their competition smoking their asses.
There’s no easy solution to this. Proactive policing works, done fairly, professionally, I wholeheartedly agree. But turning this ship around, I don’t know. Everyone wants a solution to a problem that took five hundred years to develop. The conditions that cause poor people to live in hopelessness and blight in many cases aren’t just “their” problem, they’re America’s problem. It’s everyone’s problem. Maybe if there were a real effort to change at least one of these issues, you’d spread out the community all over. You’d separate them from one another. It’s a start.

Section 8 housing exists everywhere: not just in Nside and Goulds. There really is no reason a black family can’t apply for and land a section 8 in the Hammocks. And landlord gets guaranteed rent from a tenant. Now, that kid goes to a school in Hammocks, free of fear and able to walk home and not pass a street full of prostitution and dope. Communities can shape the individual. The kid might get an education. The kid might have a shot at a decent and safe middle-class existence.
Are you okay with that? Poor blacks and Latinos getting public housing NOT in a government housing project? Having “them” as neighbors and shopping at your Publix? That’s the other thing. Many of us are comfortable with “them” being “over there” beyond the imaginary (red) line created generations ago by the housing establishment.
These things are changing, but man they are changing slowly.
Americans also work their asses off for some pretty shitty wages. We don’t have universal access to health care. Average working people resent someone who is unemployed or underemployed receiving government housing or medical benefits, not knowing that many of those receiving those benefits also are working two and three shit jobs that don’t pay them enough. Billionaire corporations are bleeding the American taxpayer by making us pay into these programs instead of offering good pay and benefits, which would make most of this shit unnecessary.

It’s not about black and white, it’s about green. The common thread running throughout the black community is poor: poverty, desperation. Take that desperation away and see what happens. Shit, it’s the one thing no one has tried yet. And planting a couple of palm trees in the median ain’t gonna solve shit.

No you are the dumb ass and couldn't be a cop. You commit crimes IDIOT and We catch you and lock your dumb ass up. Crime would decrease and go down.

Also with the Mandatory Enforcement in that particular Northside Community, you would not be able to commit a CRIMINALviolation without getting caught and going back to jail where you belong.

Go play with your camera moron!!!!

"Miami-Dade Police call on the public to help keep communities safe" FOOLS!

How can sworn MDPD members expect communities to assist them in deterring violent crimes, when, three years after the murder of an innocent two-year-old infant, Carnell Williams Thomas, such communities have not provided information that would lead to the killers' identifications, arrests, and conviction? SHAME ON THEM!

If those rules are good for one community then they're good for the whole County. If that approach is to be used to prevent violent crime then the same level of response should be used to prevent tax, insurance, commercial and medical fraud. Are you willing to impede Civil Rights in other communities to achieve the same level results?

The hypocrisy of it all is appalling. The drug use, the guns, and crime are all over the county. As if you'd ever use those rules in other more affluent communities.

My solution is to make it easier and more profitable to turn in the bad guys. Increase the gun bounty to $2000, make it easier to anonymously inform and receive cash rewards for all convicted felonies committed. Make it 2-strikes out for violent crimes and increase fines and time for lessor crimes. This can be paid by fining and confiscating illegally obtained properties from fraud crimes. It may not be a perfect solution, but it's a start that can be modified as needed.

Very valid points however it was only one Major from Northside advising of the violence. You can say what you feel inside, I'm okay with your opinions.

Where we differ on logic is there are not a lot of drive by shooting and robberies in Hammocks, Doral, Kendall, Northwest, or POS.

BUT, look at Northside, Intracoastal, and South District. Yet only Major Brown reached out for help.

The other two districts where their communities are just as bad and affected by gun violence and drugs had nothing to say to their communities. Hint hint hint.

You need to be aware it is not violating anyone's civil
rights when it is approved Mandatory Laws passed by your legislatures and community elected officials.

Like it or not these communities are black and they continue to kill each other at a all time high.

Rarely do you hear of white drive by on the white communities. You do not hear about Latin on Latin drive by shootings on their communities.

Some communities suffer because they do not respect themselves or the law.

You can't dispute it. This has been going on over 50 years. Just check your comp statistics.
