When you retire from the agency

Only four things will matter when you retire from the agency:

    Your health.

    Your pension.

    Your health insurance.

    Your savings.

Weather you worked 25 or 30 or 40 years, it will be irrelevant. Nobody cares and nobody will remember your name after you leave (unless you are a dynasty family). Concentrate on these four things and look out for yourself because nobody else will. This job is not a career (unless you are one of the 5%), it is a means to an end. That end is retirement so you can be free to enjoy your time as you see fit. Good luck to all.

Assuming all that is true then your health is tied to your health insurance and thats 50% of your view. Good and low cost Health insurance is not guaranteed and depends on who the sheriff is and what he/she thinks is important. I’m on PCSO Medicare Advantage plan and pay zero. Previous sheriffs had us paying through the azz. Be thankful that the current sheriff puts emphasis on good employee and retiree health built no guarantees with the next guy/girl. Could go back to getting screwed on health insurance.
