    I've been thinking of you a bunch these days, wishing I had said more to him. Why did you have to go so soon? As much as I've begged God to take my life and soul from my body, but he took you instead. Ray if I could swap with you, I would in a heartbeat. I was never worthy to tie your boot laces. You have a grandchild coming, you were 100X the deputy I ever was, and an even bigger person. But God chose you.

    To my friends I'm sorry it was him and not me.
