You are either negative or covering up for the corrupt brass. There are lots of decent agencies out there run by good leaders. Ours used to be that way until Bob was appointed sheriff.
Anyway the advice is to enable members to survive and do their time until retirement, not to wallow with the hogs in the political manure pit.

It's just proven advice if you want to take it. No big loss to me if you don't.
Bob beat Santana, a weak candidate with no LEO experience and no money to speak of. The rest of his opponents were azz-clowns aside from Rice who TBT took down. That was Bob's only real political victory. Bob was appointed chief by Coats, then appointed sheriff by Tricky Rick Scott, another POS. Birds of a feather flock together. His entire career has been a series of back-room deals and appointments. No wonder the current work environment is one of corruption and back-stabbing which Bob created.

The brass will never admit failure or will not agree to a compromise. They to want to get their 25to30 yrs in and be gone. They don’t care how they got to where they are and only care about themselves. So stay under their radar they are not your friends and stick it to them as they would to you.

Having worked in municipal PDs and a county sheriff's office, I can give you the benefit of long experience.
All LEAs are extremely political. Either the head of the agency is an elected politician or works directly for elected politicians or a single political appointee of elected politicians. Therefor, they are covered in political BS.
So, the rookie LEO has to make a decision, early in his career. Does he want a log career of serving the community, through the enforcement of reasonable laws and ordinances, or does he want to achieve rank?. If he simply wants to do police work, then he has to keep his head down, try not to make waves and avoid political incidents and other controversies. Why? because no one in command has the lower level LEOs' backs. They will throw anyone under the political bus in a heartbeat. That is how they got where they were to begin with. So, if the rookie LEO wants to achieve rank, in the agency, he is going to have to be political and be willing to sacrifice anyone to achieve his goals. Because, the job of the upper echelons of LEAs is not to protect the community from criminals, but to protect their own positions by heeding the desires of their political masters.
That is reality. Learn it, live it, love it.
