    Hiring process

Hello, I am curious as to how intensive the hiring process is compared to other area departments. How long does it take and how do they go about doing a background for an out of state hire? Also, do they compile parts of the process together so out of state applicants can get it all done in a couple trips? Thanks in advance.

Get a job as a rodeo clown. Its safer, better uniform, easier hiring process, and the bulls are friendlier coworkers......and im not bitter.

You seem a little bitter. Thanks for your useful input.

You are correct and not trying to be a dbag. But there are better places with better morale, better transparency, more movement, less infidelity, less paperwork, less fat people, less favoritism and jealousy. Honestly it may be less pay but try the 3 county departments before this hole.

So what departments would you suggest?

Everyone at Lee country, collier, and FMPD says Cape Coral is the place to be.

If you go to cape remember a couple things....
    1. Dont listen to the recruiters, few go to a specialty spot withing 8 years. With prior its the same, but again few within 5 years.
    2. See above but just bc you are prior you will not move quicker, unless you show you are a stud on the road. You slack off on the road, you are on the same plan.
    3.pay is the best.
    4. Community loves cops, but be prepared to actually do the work they want.
    5. Stats matter. Do stops. Do reports.
    6. Actually work for your money and you will be rewarded.

This is true but realize the stud on the road is a "Yes" man who only cares about stats. People with zero zone integrity, people who socialize with supervisors off duty, people who are busy on traffic stops and never available to back you or pick up holding calls. This is the oldest story in the book. The people recommending the cape realize this and are either current cape "yes" men or tried to get into cape and are stuck at a department that expects a decent work ethic. Go to Collier.

Don’t listen to anyone. We have our issues, I agree 100% but Cape is the best. Why? Cause all the departments around are equally as bad. So why not come to the cape where you get paid the highest and have the nicest equipment.

Yes once you get hired you must go to Dixie roadhouse or nevermind everytine you want to drink in public. Also if you are musically inclined the department band needs a new guitar player.
