Because they value their officers enough to not ALLOW them to be used as the city’s “catch all”. They value their safety and mental health by over staffing them and sending them to calls 4 cars deep to water down the exposures to danger and PTSD causing circumstances. They also have no where near the amount of supervisory positions, districts, departments, divisions, rank and brass as we do. Yet they have more officers and more crime.

If it were not for home mortgages and auto loans, this agency would have no deputies. Rookies quit on average of a few years and that’s a fact! Most of the old school deputies that are here are stuck because they came here when a few districts and divisions had real leaders that cared. Once those leaders left, it was too late. Too much time had been invested and many can’t leave without taking huge hits in their retirements. Even though many leave anyway because the money is just not worth it after a while. Some of you D4 guys know exactly what I’m talking about.

No agency is perfect and not without their politics, but this agency is an absolute circus!

Most retired cops that have come to work here from real police departments from far away, have long since left. All saying the same thing about us. We are all fluff. The catch all of the county. Yeah, cops come here from places like, oh New York, and try to tell us how much better they did it there! If life is so much better there, or TPD for that matter-go to work.in New York, or TPD!

Which brings me to my next point. If Ron McMullen was such a super cop, why didn't he get the Chief's job?
