    Budget cuts ?

Practically every agency is cutting back and some have even implemented hiring freezes to reduce staff through attrition. At the same time police officers are quitting the profession in droves due to lack of support from the politicians. Only a matter of time until it happens here, probably after the election. We may have some buyouts so plan ahead if you want to bail out. The last time we had buyouts you could e-mail the sheriff and get a cash offer. Might be a good time to get rid of some of the dinosaurs and double dippers.

Where do I sign up. This career has gone in the toilet due to malicious prosecution of LEO’s and political corruption. Let the criminals run wild and vilify and defund the cops. Sad state of affairs.

The last buyout was a year's base pay. It was only made available to the senior guys.

Wrong answer you are mis-informed. Average buyout was 110 thousand to 250 thousand if you were upper brass. Some of those who took a buyout 10 years ago are back working here today. Deputies with 7 to 8 years on got buyouts. Bob gave his ex wife AA a buyout. That’s the facts

I was referring to the peon deputies' buyouts, not the upper brass who got fat buyouts like you mentioned. And yeah, some came back.

Do you know ANYTHING about the budget? or are you just a shitstirrer? There will be NO buyouts, the budget has been approved and is good through Oct 2021. In fact, we are still hiring. But please continue with your paranoia.

The budget for 2009 was approved in July, 2008. Everyone thought it was good to go. In 2009 the county commission requested that the sheriff along with all other county departments cut their budgets. A 5 year pay freeze and a temporary hiring freeze were implemented immediately. The D&C academy recruits were laid off and went to HCSO jail. The 12 hour shifts started at the jail to save money. Nobody liked the budget cuts but it had to be done. With the current recession and COVID19 pandemic unlikely to end soon, it could happen again.

You’re a moron. There are 4 academy classes and 2 pre cert classes scheduled for this year alone. Sorry, you’re not getting any buyout cash, keep dreaming.
