PLEA are such uneducated morons. If they would do just a little research, they would learn that the 1% came from the Cares Act! Not the BCC, not the PBA... it came from the government! Morons! Educate yourselves PLEA!

Unfortunately, that’s not true once again PLEA. PBA was able to get the approval for the 1% to count for FRS. Even for your members Domingo.

You all are like Democrats. We are doing fact checks on PLEA now too!

    This isnt regular barg raise

    Bargaining Unit Members,

I am pleased to report that after lobbying at the federal, state and local levels, we have finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Miami-Dade County to grant a temporary 1% wage increase for all hours actually worked from March 1, 2020, through December 30, 2020, for all sworn bargaining unit members (Correctional Officers, Corporals, Sergeants and Lieutenants; and Police Officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants and Captains). Unfortunately, as these are funds provided through the federal government’s “CARES Act,” non-sworn bargaining unit members are not eligible for this temporary increase.

Since the PBA successfully lobbied for and obtained a presumption that all work that a law enforcement and correctional officer does is “substantially dedicated to mitigating or responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency”, all hours actually worked will be eligible for the 1% increase. The monies have already been received by Miami-Dade County via the CARES Act, and upon successful ratification by the two bargaining units and the County, which is a legal requirement, it will be distributed to you.

While it will not include 1% for hours not actually working due to a COVID-related illness, as that would be in violation of the CARES Act, the County has committed to also providing this 1% increase to those sworn personnel for the hours not actually worked due to a COVID-related illness. They will simply be paid from other legal sources. Additionally, while the MOU at paragraph #5 indicates that the funds will only be pensionable if FRS approves it to be, since completing the MOU we have received notice that FRS agrees that the 1% will be pensionable.

The ratification notice is attached to this email, along with the MOU that you will be voting upon next week. While the MOU covers both bargaining units, a separate vote will be conducted for the Rank & File and Supervisory units. The vote will be held one week from today, Thursday, October 15, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the PBA. Due to COVID, masks and social distancing while voting will be required, and we discourage anyone from congregating within the voting location. You will enter through the front of the PBA into the first floor meeting hall, and exit through the side doors to the patio, and out to the parking lot from there.

Also, due to COVID, and the relative non-controversial nature of the vote, we will only have one location, at the PBA.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to respond to this email, or contact the PBA at 305-593-0044.

    Stay Safe.

Beautifully crafted letter definitely not done by Steadman. More importantly, it’s purely a self serving letter acting as if they were in Washington DC and all over the US just to get it for Miami Dade members.
Truth is everywhere else for it first. Once FRS accepted it for other departments it was forced to accept it for all departments.
Once again PBA attempting to steal the credit just as they did with the masks issuance and other issues.
Lies is all PBA knows. It’s part of their existence.

1% For Us how much for Fire 🔥 and the Rest

So we Vote to accept 1%, How much is Fire getting, how much is Mayors office staff and BCC getting. 1% sounds lime I drop in the bucket especially seeing the millions the Palosi and the Left want to give illegals and Santuary cities? Take the 1% now and when the rest get loaded we Fudged.

Can we get some more real facts on this other than Fake News and Letter written by Mayors buddies, you know when the county ya stage money already and willing to hand over NOW, something smells FISHY. Just saying, change my mind.
