Time are changing. 2011 The Gov frist year in office, he wanted to do away with FHP. This was a good idea then and a better idea now. The sheriff's departments CSO are the results of that attempt.

Your department is nothing but a liability to the state. Your department is a glorified crash data recording agency which can not maintain enough people to work in the counties they are assigned.

Try talking to the Deputies with CSO in their department. Ask them how the CSO program is working. They will tell you, the Sheriff Departments are expanding the CSO section. Denial is one of the seven stages.

What I don't understand is why any SO maintains an CSO Division. Under Sheriff Kevin Beary, Orange County simply said they aren't going to work crashes and abdicate all responsibility for crashes to FHP. Simple as that.

He saved millions of dollars for the county by having FHP serve as his CSO Division.

Why don't all Counties do the same? There's nothing keeping the other 66 Counties from just saying we're not working crashes and we're not maintaining a CSO Division either--millions of dollars saved overnight. It doesn't make sense why counties such as Palm Beach, Broward and Hillsborough have their deputies work crashes.

Because some Sheriff won't have their citizens waiting for an hr for a simple short form, they rather do it themselves. Thats how it should be, there are Highway Patrols like in California where they don't go off the Highway unless extreme circumstances. Only Florida caters to the worthless SO that think they own the State. We should be only Interstates and Turnpike, cut off in half and that saves the State a ton of money.

Half of the 67 Sheriff in Florida can't even pass the background to become Troopers, the 67 Sheriffs of Florida, give me a break. There are some good ones, but oh boy there are some real winners out there. Thats probably why the State still rather have their own agency.

This is what Florida gets as a Sheriff. Not only did this one get appointed by DeSantis after the Parkland shooting, the same idiots that demanded a new Sheriff ELECTED this crook when his interim term was up!

Because a REAL sheriff will put their pride aside and acknowledge the fact that FHP is short staffed and does not want to put their constituents to wait 1-4 hours to have a simple short form done. The OCSO sheriff is a D bag.

Same in Marion County. The S.O. refuses to work any crashes even though FHP is severely understaffed. Public often has to wait several hours for FHP to respond to crashes, the majority of which occur on local roads.
