    “Needs to be BA52”.

Dispatchers, Call Takers, or whoever... Get that god damn sentence out of your fukking heads! STOP telling people we will baker act! STOP PUTTING IN OUR CALL COMMENTS, “Needs to be BA52”!!!! You have no god damn idea the criteria for BA52! You have no idea what is actually going on. At the scene. You have no idea the stress of making a bad ba52 or being unable to ba52 when you should. You have no liability. You have no idea if a subject has a diagnosis, what the diagnosis is, what meds they have been prescribed, if they are compliant, if the meds are working, how symptomatic they are, if they actually are in mental health crisis or just being an assshole, and MOST IMPORTANTLY... Does this meet the legal criteria for a baker act that can be proven?

The LIABILITY, RESPONSIBILITY, AND RESULTS OF THESE HALF ASSED UNTRAINED PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS DONE BY COPS, FALLS ON US! Us! Not you! Not these moron callers! Being that since the liability falls on us, WE are the ONLY ones that should bring up and option to baker act. STOP giving these idiot callers information on how to call us for quick fixes. So they can get rid of their moron drunk spouse, brother, sister, uncle or whoever. Stop enabling these piss poor parents by telling them that we will ba52 their defective loser kids.

A little tip for you when it comes to children and juveniles.... The baker act is for US to take free citizens into mental health or addiction custody, ONLY if they are a danger to themselves or others. Its not illegal to be drunk, high, or crazy, or “freaking out”. With juveniles, they are NOT free citizens. They are ALWAYS in the custody of their parents or teachers. They are technically always under a baker act. Parents can take their own damn kids to the hospital or crisis center. School officials can always call parents and coordinate with them to get their own god damn kids to the crisis center or hospital. Better yet, lets not be so fukking dramatic. They can simply take them to their own doctor.

NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO INVOLVE US!

    USE COMMON SENSE!

PUT IT BACK ON THE MORON PARENTS!

STOP MENTIONING THE BA52 TO THESE IDIOTS OR AT A MINIMUM, TELL THEM IT IS 100% UP TO US AND NOT THEM. Because WE take on all the liability. If we don’t ba52 and they hurt themselves or others, it will be our fault. If we ba52 and the criteria was not met because we did it to shut some loudmouth idiot caller up, we can get squid. Not to mention all the freaking call comments you put that are HEARSAY, that bury us in liability. Comments we have to undo. See, the trend is to blame cops for what worthless crazy, drunk, or high people do.

Remember this, your call comments are nothing but hearsay. From a person on the phone that lies. However, those call comments hold a lot of weight after the fact. People believe everything you type. Because they are laymen and stupid. When you manipulate a call by adding certain comments to manipulate the outcome for a lying caller to make them happy, it looks bad on us when we get there and DETERMINE WHAT REALY HAPPENS that differs from your call comments, then we look real bad. Your call comments on ba52 calls hurt us more than help. Remember that WE are the ones there in contact with. WE are the ones that are trained and experienced to determine what happened. The people YOU speak with on a phone lie and exaggerate so they can be manipulative or “win” by being the first to call to get their way on a call. Stop enabling that!

Lastly... STOP doing our investigations and adding comments that only screw us up later.

Your comments are simply what was was told to you... HEARSAY!

The dispatchers aren't telling people that. People call in themselves and say that so and so needs to be baker acted. Most people calling know what a baker act is because they've done it to the person before so they call in asking for one. They don't have an option as to what they put the call in as, they can only go with the information given. Just because call comments say one thing doesn't mean you have to do it, you make that decision yourself. Maybe if you're such an expert at it you should try being a dispatcher for a few days.

So when you go to a call do you do an investigation? I'm pretty sure that's not the dispatchers job, that's yours. You don't just start arresting people based on call comments and call it a day. Dispatchers are CIVILIANS and are not trained on state statutes. They can only go off the information given, which if you haven't noticed isn't a lot most of the time because people don't want to be involved and they just expect law enforcement to respond and figure it out. When someone calls 911 and says they need help because someone is freaking out or high what do you expect dispatch to do? Not enter a call and tell them too bad we're not coming? That is not their job to decide who gets a deputy and who doesn't. If your supervisor feels like something is a parenting issue maybe they should cancel the call. Or better yet just respond to the call and do what you were trained to do. If you don't want to go to calls maybe you're in the wrong line of work.
