Maybe Coats had a personal problem with Fowler. There were other qualified people who were passed over in favor of Gualtieri. Coats made a big mistake which will not be fixed any time soon. Horrible way to end a long career and legacy.

Gualtieri has had more accomplishments and awards and recognitions than Rice and Coats combined. Complain all you want but the man has done a lot and been recognized across Florida and the U.S. You dont get the awards and recognitions he has without having your act together. Yea DF was way over his head. He went from Chief Deputy to patrolman in some Midwest PD. That’s a ladder climber there. DF was the proverbial nice guy but could not find his azz with both hands. He came back and bailed a second time because the stress got to him. He could not handle it. Those are are facts and we should all wish him well but he could never have been Sheriff and if you ask him he will tell you that.
