Someone else can post the transcript of the deposition where Knight was asked if he has a drinking problem. He replied: "Others seem to think that I have a drinking problem." Mr. Knight, what do you think? Were you drinking when VPD arrested you for woman issues at a Venice bar? How do you spell "culpability" and how do you define personal accountability? A sociopath has no personal accountability, but instead, blames others.

A union is only as good as what is written the signed contract. A union and a sheriff cannot move beyond the legal parameters that are outlined in a written contract. That's why incrementally negotiating contract benefits, year-over-year, is critical, especially in the first few years of a newly formed union. A sheriff and a union are both bound by the legal stipulations in a written contract. If a contract has weak legal guidelines in it, then it starts off weak. However, all contracts begin weak in the first few years of a newly created union. It took years, sometimes decades, for all the big sheriff's office's in Florida to get good contracts e.g. Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach County, Jacksonville, etc.
It does not happen overnight.

The problem and reason Florida cops can’t have a union is bc they all backstab each other to promote themselves and management allows it. Team is a culture that starts at the top. Leadership should admonish non team members. When 56ing all we do is talk shit about other deputies and what pieces of shit they are. Switch cars and talk shit about the guy you were just with. We will never have a union because WE are too greedy to sacrifice for our brothers. It is not instilled in us like west and north agencies. Move on and keep trashing each other.

JJ is the poster boy for the above. Look how he got to the top. Only looking out for himself and taking any glory he could. Even back in the day in Narcs we hated him. He was selfish and only thought of himself. Having sex with other men’s wives, being deceitful, and driving people to work harder to make him look good for staff. He cared about in thing himself. He was a liar that would lie to your face. Cops like him is why we will never ever have a union. GREEDY

That's true... to lead and be a part of a union, you need to be selfless. In the big picture, it's about helping others and not just ourselves. It is possible to have an effective union, but it will require selfless sacrifice on the part of some people. Selflessness is not something that is easy. Conversely, selfishness comes natural because it's a part of human nature: look at Knight as a prime example. A selfish sheriff is highly destructive for the morale and welfare of employees in an agency.
