    Employment Physical Ability Test

What does the pre-employment physical ability test consist of, and how long do you have (time wise) to complete it? Thanks in advance.

Can you pick up a cheeseburger, run to a patrol car, sit for 12 hours, all while watching Netflix? If so, you’re in! You will be tested on this daily, so I hope you’re in elite shape.

I know it sounds difficult but don’t be discouraged, many people have failed. Just look at the turnover rate and the applicants that withdraw even before this strenuous test. Best of luck!

It's an amazing rate here at this agency on the hiring and firing of new applicants that do not make it through the program. Good luck. I am a betting woman, and I will bet 1 out of 3 of these guys make it to final phase and released here.

When you gwt to the testing site, just tell them that you are there for K9 tryouts. Then, you can walk the whole course and still pass. After that, complain about your patrol vehicle being too small and the Chief will buy you an SUV because you are one of his friends. This can all be accomplished before you even get hired.

Leave him alone! He is an extremely hard worker and a real go getter.

It sucks to be an officer of larger size on this job and career.. They expect you to pack your size into a small patrol car, and the cars seem to get smaller and smaller. On top of that with the computer added and the printer needed,.....there is no room in the average patrol car for a bigger size guy to train an officer.

This department needs to look into buying/leasing some larger SUV type vehicles. The cost wouldn't be much different. A Plea to help the officers over 6'5" on doing this and their job of being an FTO and training new officers.

What a bunch of BS. Maybe the officer should strive to be a professional and not be so fat that they need a breather from getting out of the car. It has nothing to do with height. The department should take a stand and say that if the officer can't fit into department equipment, then they are not fit for duty.

"Can't fit into the equipment" then don't hire people over 6'5". Don't hire guys with no ankles and put them into an office job their entire career either as an officer. We can't play bit both ways on this job.

    6 foot 5 is ok, it's the 3 foot 5 circumference that's the problem.
