The public also wants to defund the police. Is cc going to do that too? After all, we can’t pick and choose what we give to the public can we?

This agency does not have the proper infrastructure for body cameras. I don’t mean money, equipment, or policy. I mean the relationship, support, and understanding between the executive staff and patrol. The agency will attack and destroy itself. Because of that, we are set up to fail as always. There is too much of a disconnect between us and the executive staff. Our front line supervisors understand, but are under pressure from mid command to disconnect from their subordinates. These audits of our cameras will not be viewed with the understanding that the ONLY reason this agency functions with such few deputies is because we have learned to triage cases and pick our battles when it comes to taking on cases. We will be nit picked and judged. Resolving problems on scene without bogging down supervisors with constant reports, constant arrests, or involving the court system by acting on every emotionally driven word these people say is what real experienced officers do. Its very easy to just take reports all night and arrest everyone, risking uses of force, completely making the squads unavailable, but we will need far more people. We are already operating at 200% mental capacity and on the edge of burnout. No matter how much you try to bash this post, you know for a fact how things are out here. You preach about transparency, yet cover up and hide the fact that just about every deputy here is on the verge of quitting or burning out. You make us light the candle at three ends, and refuse to give us admin time or staffing to do this job. You use body cams to shut citizens up and make them feel that now we won’t “hurt anyone”, which we were not doing in the first place, and just like GPS, you will take it to the extreme and use it to burn us on everything else. You will need to double or triple our staffing because our discretion will be gone. Correction, your auditors will not understand that using discretion was the only way this agency functioned on a skeleton crew. The agency will have to do its part and give us the tools to do the job the way prospected body cam viewers would expect. You cant just buy them, make us wear them, and get to work. Its time for you to do your part HCSO. Otherwise we will be taking every call to the extreme and be out of service. Overtime will increase, morale will continue to plummet, and burnout will become even more prevalent. You listened to criminal rioters, when are you going to listen to us?
