The manager with the mayor and chief's backing found a way to save 2 million dollars from the police budget. Behar has been the one who came up with the plan using his 30 years of police management experience.

First they are demoting the 2 lieutenants to sergeant. We will then have the budgeted 3 sergeants.

Second they are bringing costa back to be the fulltime detective.

Brent, Casais, Suarez, Collins and Mccready will be sent to the patrol.

Anna will be sent to city hall managers new executive assistant while Jimenez with his Master's Degree will replace her. Thus saving 50k. Emails will be sent out in English.

These changes will be formally announced at tonight's commission meeting as a way to take another knee to BLM.

Also being discussed is taking away the take home vehicle program, more from you health insurance and the shoe stipends.

Your scheduled cola raises from last year and the following years is also gone so the chief can hire 3 more part time buddies to give bullshi* jobs to.

Ok so how about the back pay (all inclusive back pay) for BIG MONEY MEADOWS!!!??? He’s gonna win and chief ego maniac knows it. The drunk driver might win, and if so he’ll get back pay. I for one will not be voting for any commission that continues this police abusive budget. Our village can’t survive and thrive with theses types of salaries. Over a third of the police have a package of over 6 figures including their secretary who makes close to 90,000.00 a year base pay. Stop the madness.

Just saw the police budget and wow is that some stuff we are paying. A secretary making 88,000.00 a year plus benefits. Heard last year 8 plus officers made six figure salaries. To do what?

Well the chief is too busy brown nosing the commish and manager to have time to be chief of such a small department that he needs a deputy to be chief so there's 2 of our 6 figures easy. Then the 2 lieutenants, of which one does nothing essentially but bring coolers of alcohol during hurricanes and goes on "union" trips to drink and schmooze (brown nose) to supervise 2 officers essentially. They say he's also over dispatch which already has a head dispatcher running that.One of the 2 he watches spends more time in the chiefs' office then actually doing detective work. Last I remember we were not such a hotbed of crime with cases piled to roof so why so many detectives? So there's 3 and 4. What I don't understand is why everyone is so lazy or incompetent that they need all this excess. The budget oversight even saw it asking why do we have so many positions even on city hall side like chief of staff. Looks like friends taking care of friends. Can the manager and chief not handle such a small place? I look at comparable departments and why can't we have a chief that can actually do the job, a lieutenant, and 2 sgts overseeing the day and night since they're working 12s? Why 4 detectives of which 1 is a lieutenant that investigates nothing? Bring back the one on permanent vacation playing around and not bringing money back. At most 2 stay while the others go back to the road. Why do we have an SRO not working the road when school board will be responsible for the school? To do projects? Really? When Lisa was here she worked the road and still did her projects. Why do we have a boat which is docked overwhelmingly the abundance of time basically collecting barnacles? How much are we spending on gas, maintenance, and dock space? Add that the boat is not practical for what it is intended for by having a cabin. The excuse given by those supporting it say we need it to evacuate in an emergency well, like the Titanic, needed wasted space is taken up by that cabin. How much did we spend wrapping cars for pride month, 4th of July, and breast cancer awareness when some officers can't even get uniforms or replace worn equipment without getting the riot act if even getting it at all. You have a secretary making more than cops who can actually get killed and risk their lives. Chevrony likes her though so she's okay. From I hear though this stems from when Israel was here and brought in his assistant from Fort Lauderdale. Again the buddy program. Such an overabundance of mismanagement and wasteful spending but everyone is okay with that. We cannot bring in MBPD unless we get absorbed by their city because by law it falls to the sheriffs office. To contract with the sheriffs office requires little to no jumping of hoops compared to getting absorbed by Miami Beach. Why can't we look at Miami Lakes and Palmetto Bay which contract to the county for services. Think about why haven't they started their own PDs. We are wasting money on accreditation that does nothing but pad resumes, here's a shocker, the county is already accredited! And by Calea which is international and is affiliated with associations such as the international association of chiefs of police which our chiefs loves to go on yearly vacations to. We're looking at state level, if we get it. These are affluent communities so their residents understand dollars and cents. If the county services were horrendous you know they would've addressed that rather quickly. Fire needs a new station but contracting police service means we wouldn't need a massive station for the police and we can do more for our community like an indoor rec area for our youth or meeting space for events? This city can be so much more than it is but it's curse continues until people are willing to change it and care for it.

Too bad that the Lt's can't turn on their computers and enter area checks into the CAD and things like that. We got a good pd but, it just needs real leadership. Accreditation isn't important. Who knows what the future holds?

Get rid of the 7 million dollar police budget and only spend half that by bringing in Miami Beach police to do our patrolling. State law allows other city jurisdictions to patrol other contracted cities, just like Davie police is contracted by the city of Sunshine Ranches for police services and it saves the Ranches millions a year.
