Not really ...Carlos just put out another puff piece about two deputies stealing time. The way I read the article the deputies were placed on admin leave on June 15th. They were not called to the office until July 20th something smells fishy brah. Carlos just wizzed over it like he was trying to get out of the office or something. No offense Carlos but you never ask any questions, ever. Why? Not one question or to even pose a question to the reader? You might be one nice guy but if you want to be known as a reporter or "journalist" you have to ask the hard questions. Setting the bar for mediocre results.

This case is unusual because Knight's name is redacted from the report -- and not just his address.

Marcy's Law not designed to hide Knight's name from public view

Leaving a wallet, money and credit cards overnight in a patrol car is poor judgement on Tom Knight's part (rookie 101). Any cop would be embarrassed if the newspaper found out about it. Conversely, Marcy's Law is not designed to shield Knight's name from public view in this instance. With Kurt Hoffman's help, let's do a legal analysis:

    1. While driving his patrol vehicle on-duty, Knight left his wallet, money and credit cards in his vehicle overnight. Then his valuables were stolen by a thief.
    2. Knight's name is redacted from the official crime report to hide his identity from the public.
    3. Judge Charles Dodson ruled that officers names cannot be hidden from the public under Marcy's Law, when the officer is a victim due to his on-duty actions.
    4. Knight is a victim of his own on-duty negligence (rookie 101).

As the elected sheriff of Sarasota County, people want to know if Knight's on-duty behaviors are negligent.
