lesson learned by Police, Public and Criminals.

When Micheal brown was hailed a social justice hero and given a plaque memorializing him after robbing and assaulting a store clerk and assaulting a police officer I knew we were in a twilight zone. The media introduced this big man to the world using a old picture of a elementary graduation picture when he was still a child. The mayor of Ferguson, MO allowed the rioting, looting and burning of local businesses like we have seen a few years later today. The democratic mayor gave them space to vent and take out their rage and violence without police intervention. A police officer was charged with killing as the headlines on all media outlets read “White police Officer shoots and kills unarmed black man”.

The president at the time, Obama, sent the DOJ on a code 3 and made his own assumption to the public denouncing the officer’s actions on a incident he had no facts as of yet and without a thorough investigation. He condemned the officer which later was exonerated but, paid a heavy price. The usual suspects Jesse Jackson and Sharpton flew there as well to represent the family as we all seen in the past. The race card was used by the Commander in Chief throughout all levels of government to paint a narrative that was untrue. The momentum built and the media kept on feeding the fire. The officer can’t live ever a normal life or continue his profession due to media and political scrutiny over a criminal that is still mentioned today in the roll call of social justice victims. It’s very appalling. Now we have this airport incident. Wish he had handled it better because, we all know he will be scrutinized unfairly. Being on that long he should have not let her push the buttons as she did. Don’t think he will be charged and if so he should be able to win a jury decision. At the end the officer has to hire console, lay down a retainer and go through the stress and unfair termination process. He will be used by the political machine to make the politicians look good. He is just a number like we all are.

Lesson was learned through those times by Law Enforcement Officers in the nation. Stay safe and do your job but, nothing extra. No one has your back, sometimes not even your backup officer or your supervisors.

Fantastic post! Thank you for sharing those well thought out words.
I agree when you say do the minimum possible. Otherwise you risk your freedom, salary and career. And, no one is in your corner- not even the PBA who you pay to do just that.
