Sure they are desperate. They don't want to lose your money. Lakeland needs a union, but PBA isn't the answer. You'll have to find an aggressive one that will fight for what's right, not popular. And not be in cahoots with senior staff or city officials like they were with previous incompetent chiefs.

Ironically, the other spokes show up here, verbally elbow each other to get a word in edgewise and some made statements that I couldn’t decipher even with an unabridged dictionary or Pictionary for that matter.
    Honestly, I would label them
The three stooges but there were more. 9 in believe. Can you imagine we are now worthy of 9 PBA big shots. It helps us understand the dire situation the PBA is really in. If this is their brightest and best, no wonder why FOP is taken over all across the state.
Keep your trinkets, incoherent statements and your general BS out of here.
Lastly, if they are willing to throw One of their own under the bus what do you think they will do to us? It won’t be pretty.
Nick M threw himself under the bus when he was an officer here and didn't help officers. "Not a Union issue " was his go to line. He is the reason there are years of shitty raises and the contributions are so high. He set it up so the contract looked good for the rookies and they were majority of the boat after the sex scandal. Now rookies are becoming veterans learning what they have always voted for now is not beneficial to them. Thank Nick. He sat pretty in a position created for him not to do police work and all he had to do to keep it was screw everyone around him. We are in this boat because of him and won't get out of it until we get away from him.

Please post your source stating that the FOP legal defense has a $20k cap on an officer’s defense. Because that’s just plain and simple BS.

Click the link below and see for yourself! Page 2 $20,000 cap on Civil Lawsuits coverage. After you max out at $20,000 your required to go before the FOP board and beg for more money. Also, $500 cap on duty related traffic representation. The big problem with going before the FOP board for more money is if the board doesn't like you this week you get nothing! Favoritism at its finest!

This is simply more “misinformation.” There are no caps in our plan, and we definitely will spend whatever amount necessary to defend our brothers and sisters through legal, criminal and administrative defense.

The FOP Plan even offers an additional benefit of 5 hours of “free” legal coverage with an attorney for off-duty, non work related offenses a member may be arrested or charged with.

The $20,000 Brother Dave is possibly referring to is under a civil suit. If you are sued for a work-related action, your agency is obligated to provide you with an attorney to defend you, so there should be no concern. For instance, I was sued at work in Fort Lauderdale for work related arrests on a few occasions (as many officers are, esp these days). The City provided my legal/civil defense in every one of those suits and defended them successfully. However, as an enhancement, our Plan provides an additional protection wherein we will cover a member in the rare event your City denies providing an attorney for civil litigation. We cover up to $20,000 in court costs, etc (as our attorney fees are already covered). In the rare event court costs exceed $20,000, the State FOP Labor Council would approve the additional costs above $20k (so there is no “cap”).

Again, this is an additional “safety” benefit for you as your City is supposed to provide the legal coverage anyhow, and this serves as an added “fail-safe” to ensure your members will always be covered.

Just another example of how information is spun into misinformation, although I definitely appreciate the questions and hope this answers this one.

What??? Beware of the FOP = Fraternal Order of Perjures! It's very clear! Click the link below and read on page 2 regarding "Duty Related Traffic Charges". It clearly states a "cap" on legal coverage! " Coverage will be limited to a maximum amount of $500.00." FOP why would you lie when you know we have your Legal Plan? Click the link below to see the FOP Legal Defense Benefit plan and read it for yourself.
