As of July 1st, the Department has temporarily discontinued allowing PO's to carry any firearms. This came as a result of the recent events involving George Floyd and other incidents of police brutality. It is unknown at this time when PO's will be permitted to carry again, but it is rumored that the Department is revamping its firearms training program to require a psychological evaluation, additional hours of tactical training, and will require a much more strict guideline for qualifying on the range.

all of which is BS, no sane CPO will go in the field and do checks etc unarmed, plain and simple its a safety issue. DOC did this and they would lose any and all CPO's with any sense.

FYI, your comment would mean that over one half of the current Officers are insane? Yep, look at the numbers provided on a 2019 OPPAGA REPORT. It shows that 64% of current Probation Officers do not carry a firearm. Do us a favor, do your research before you have diarrhea of the mouth.

I think you are in the wrong profession. Maybe you need to attend a police academy if you need your gun.

I could see your post having merit if George Floyd had been shot by some trigger happy cop! If anything they would revamp Defensive Tactics since that is the premise in the Floyd death case.

This is a great job for single Mom's. And now, they are all working from home because there kids are not in school. So, in the end, the state tax payers are paying their salaries for them to stay home and watch their own kids. Theft at it's finest.

"There kids" or "Their kids". I see standards are low. Maybe you should stay home

And rip off the state like you? No, I may not know how to spell. But I have morals.
