The sheriff is going to look like an ass for not debating him. McLynas got way more that 10% of the vote in 2016 and I don't recall him even campaigning. He is campaigning this year and has a decent agenda and platform that is going to play well with a LOT of disgruntled people here in Pinellas. But keep imagining Jimmy isn't a threat. Underestimating your opponent is the easiest way to lose any battle.

Do you have any idea on how idiotic you sound? Arrests means you are guilty? Where did you learn that from if you don't mind me asking? Do you realize that cops and deputies are not qualified to come to legal conclusions, hence they have their qualified immunity.
Now, if the Sheriff was doing his job right, wouldn't he learn his lesson after the first couple of times McLynas wiggled himself out, so next time he wouldn't arrest until he was certain he had a strong case?
McLynas argument is that in fact he was illegally arrested by Bobs people in form of retaliation. One of the many things broken with the police system, there is no accountability when LEOs abuse their power.

He would debate him if he had any honor
If the current sheriff had any honor or an ounce of transparency and he had any legitimate ideas about the office he has held and collected tons of money, he would debate and let the people choose the better man. That's why he would debate him. But he isn't a true local sheriff. He is an overpaid politician that serves no one but himself as is true of most politicians.

I’d vote for Roger Rabbit before I’d vote for JM
