Of course the drug dealers, car thieves, gang-banger wannabes and thugs don’t want police. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! Who are they gonna call when there’s a home invasion and all their drug money gets taken? Who are the girls going to report their “stolen” EBT cards to? Who are they gonna call when their car or house gets shot at? Ohhhhh then it’ll be the police’s fault for NOT doing their job and neglecting them!

Let the Starmen have it, they’ll realize the grass isn’t any greener. They don’t have a PWT hug-a-thug program....and they are respected.....go figure!

I don't think they will disband this department overnight. They will without a doubt decreasing the funding, but most likely that would go to equipment, especially riot, SRT, ERT units. They will no completely abolish the department, at least not yet. This takes several months, possibly even a year. Even and thats a EVEN if they do. The state police are required by law to respond to calls. So there will still be a police presence. Just not "active" patrols.

You can't disband a police department. A city charter includes obligations to it's citizens for things like road maintenance, fire departments and police services. If they do shut down SPPD, the SO will take over under contract just like Compton when they did away with the Compton PD. LASD took over and it was an improvement. mark my words. it will only take one huge "tragedy", and a SPPD Chief / St. Pete Mayor to drop the ball and the SO will be our new department.

As the moderate silent majority we should be speaking up, but if we did we immediately would be called racists. Fight back by not volunteering for anything such as mentoring. Don’t donate any money to any charity benefiting other people. If you must donate, make it to a no kill animal shelter. The police are under attack and so are people if you are not black or brown. What is really stupid is that most cops agree that the Minnesota cop was wrong. The reactions have been wrong. What does looting, burning things down have to do with it? What does “whites have more savings then blacks” have to do with Minnesota? What does “give Colin Kapearnick his job back” have to do with it? Lastly....why do the media and “black leaders” NEVER mention that blacks have a far greater chance of being killed by another black? It doesn’t fit the narrative that white cops are hunting blacks which we all know is BS. Moving out of this country sounds good right now because the inmates are running the asylum.

i agree completely. it's time to start speaking up just as loudly as these other clowns. they've had their turn to run the show for a little too long and it's getting out of hand. we need to start with holding the leaders accountable, because that's where most of these problems are. literally unfit to lead, but there for really questionable reasons.
