Any word on when FHP community service officers aka CSO’s will be hiring again ? Does the Colonel want to reinstate for Troop D ?

Can you please elaborate on this idea. Will it save the taxpayers money? And how long would it take to implement?

We had them at the agency that I left. They worked crashes. So what sense would it make to bring back the cso's? Instead of hiring a cso, lets hire more patrol

The cost savings is no high risk. Less loss of productive due to all day training events. No need for Academy. Only trainning is will be in the area they work crashes. Less equipment, less liability to the State of Florida and many more.

    Its a win win.

Look at other blogs on this site. You will see that idea is a losing battle. They are running two academies and are still not able to fill positions.

There is no money coming and the State of Florida will never pay the proper wage for the amount of population in this state. So, the next thing is hire a bunches of civilians to work crashes. This will be at a cheaper rate and cut back on the overhead (troopers)

Eventually phasing out all law enforcement with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Effective immediately all Troopers are now CSOs ... If we can't handle it x49 will take us over. That is all....
