Who cares about Peterson? SRD for 28 years, always took the easy way through his career and was so sleepy in his cake position that he refused to be a member of any union. Not one call to Cruz’s home was for an arrest-able criminal act. No contact with him would have resulted in a Baker Act. Had he been Baker Acted, it still would not have prevented him from buying a rifle. Because the firearm application require that you self report mental illness. Cruz is a nut job and had more mental health treatment then anyone in Broward County. He got just about every mental health service available. Far more than he would ever get from a simple 48 hour Baker Act. Then he became an adult, moved to Palm Beach County, and was out of school over a year. He was 19 and no longer the responsibility of the Broward School Board. He moved back to Parkland, just prior to the shooting. No one is to blame for MSD but Cruz. He did it! Parkland parents would not have been happy with a locked down MSD. Today is much different. If a shooter can’t get on campus, he can’t shoot students. Who would we be blaming if Cruz had been a complete stranger to the school? Oh yeah, the deputies who weren’t even there when he was shooting students. It’s there fault.

Someone knows the truth. I know the Deputy Chief from Margate and he is 10-8 he would have made an excellent Chief for Parkland but the city manager and mayor at the time picked Jan Jordan after the interview.

Unless you're lying, you should point this out. The CM and mayor both DENY that they picked her. They assert that they deferred to Scott to make the choice. If there's anyone who really wants to get to the truth, someone needs to be called out on this item.

Jordan was a FLPD Captain before she retired there an came to BSO. She was competent in most environments. No one knows how anyone will act when the shit hits the fan. The Parkland City Manager wanted a “diverse” district chief and that’s what she got. Had the radios not locked up we may have had a different outcome. None of us will ever know just as no one could have predicted MSD and/or the operational melt down primarily caused by both the 911Comm Center and the radio throttling.

Everyone is quick to throw Israel under the bus back up and run him over. Most reasons people extort are actually based on false information. I’ve been through 4 Sheriffs and Israel and Jenne were the only 2 that gave a shit about the troops. They’re the only ones that would engage you in a one on one conversation and never spoke down to you.

When Lamberti left the agency was rotting because primarily of the huge budget cuts caused by the 2008/2009 recession. It was Israel’s administration that brought in all the new cars and equipment. It was Israel’s administration that got us out of the white uniforms into all green. It was Israel’s administration that brought in the vests and BWC. IUPA through Bell fought the administration on the imposition of these items demanding they be negotiated. BS, that god we have these tools today. It was also Israel that provided the pay raises and tried to fix the pay differentials and compression caused by the budget crisis under Lamberti. It was also Israel’s administration that started the real time crime center and training facility that this POS TT is attempting to claim credit. Israel’s was moving this agency forward as quickly as a dysfunctional child can be moved forward.

As messed up as this agency is today it’s still a better place than it was pre-Isreal. It’s only gotten worse under TT. One needs a long term historical perspective with real facts not the BS that’s spewed out on this platform.

We need better union leadership that can work effectively with command not constantly fighting if we’re ever going to move forward.
