    Johnson take a look

I have worked with the county for a long time and am wondering why does your department not have an advancement hierarchy in court security.* Is Escambia County better than Santa Rosa?* They manage to have one.* You have a Sargent retiring soon and at least three others that have been there 10+ years (who are not retiring anytime soon) and could handle anything thrown their way, (and would do better with a little management training, official backing, and less micro managing) but instead you would rather put someone who has no Idea what to do and Most likely not even want to do it over these people who have more experience actually doing the job. You have plenty of people who could go interview and ask if these people are interested in an advancement but yet you have NOT.* Why is that, do you not think they can do their jobs?* If so why are they there for 10+ years?* I have also heard one of the reasons why they can not advance is because they have NOT spent two years on the road what does that have to do with the price of rice in china?* In other words 10+ years experience in that actual department and duty is for nothing????* If so why doesn't corrections need to go to road?* I will tell you why, because it does* NOT effect their job.* The same thought along that line of thinking why do you keep putting people who do NOT make it through FTO in court security????* Are you punishing these people by not allowing an opportunity for advancement?* Or do you still have so many people in your upper echelon who still look down on court security and still think of it as a "whipping post"?**

So as Head of Santa Rosa Sheriff Office* you need to set the example and precedence that you want everyone to believe and look into fixing this fast!!!

If someone in court security wants to become a Sgt. all they have to do is be eligible to test for Sgt, apply to take the test, take the test and pass it and then do the oral interview. What you want is for someone to get promoted in place without having to go through the process. The people in court security probably don't put in to test for Sgt., because they know they might get put out on the road if they get promoted. If someone from court security had tested this past time and had done well enough they would probably be considered to replace the retiring Sgt, but they didn't so there is your answer.

    Court security

It doesn't matter if they ask to take test they are told they can NOT apply because they have NOT been on road. Why does that matter in court security if they have been there for years. It is different than road. Just like correction is different from road. If they are given opportunity to test with out road experience then great. NO ONE there is allowed to progress on their job because they didnt do another job that doesn't even effect the current work they are doing.!!!!!

The above is true you know this because NONE OF THERE NAMES come up on ANY PROMOTION list when the time comes due. So the other post about they have not asked is BS. Get your crap straight. Just sayin'

Johnson needs to take a look at how many Cops it takes to keep Firehouse sub sandwiches in Milton Fla protected. Johnson needs to take a look at how many squad cars at Cooks body shop in Milton Fla. None of the Cops at the court house impress me they are typical rejects that Johnson want get rid of they are unprofessional.

Our testing policy is governed by our collective bargaining agreement. I believe you have to complete the FTO program to be eligible for promotion. I also know that some in court security never completed the FTO program or were placed in court security because it was either that or termination. If someone in court security would like to promote, then all they have to do is make sure they meet the same criteria as everyone else. Don't expect special treatment, because it will not be granted
unless you are one of the "select" few. You are saying that court security is being denied the ability for promotion, but in the same breath you are saying that it is not fair that someone with no experience in court security could be placed over court security. It sounds like you are making the argument that only those with court security experience should be considered for the Sgt. position, which eliminates everyone else's ability to expand their career/resume.

It doesn't matter if you COMPLETE FTO if you decided to go straight to court and NOT road and have no road experience still can't test. Or you have been doing JOB for 10 years that person doesn't know their job enough to be able supervise it?? But someone who just got promoted to SGT. From road comes in with no court experience is better than people already doing job. Job experience goes for every other job in the world EXCEPT court security. If they WILL NOT LET YOU TEST THEN TOU CAN NOT PROMOTE ( again you don't even get considered to be put on list). Corrections don't have to be sent to road to do job they already doing. Why should Court Security.
I will tell you why because higher ups still think low of court security. Then even IF THE POWERS that be let you test and even IF BY chance you make it POLICY is you go to road NOT directly court security. Allow people who have done their jobs to be able to move up. There is only a few. Reward employees that work hard have experience and can do something that NO ONE else wants to do much less respects. SHERIFFS OFFICE still looks down on court Security.
Your response is standard Sheriffs office response that occurs when you have no idea who or what their EXPERIENCE is. MAYBE you should review employee files and policies to even see if people have been given the same opportunities/training or not before you start giving Sheriff office standard quotes.
Never imagined Escambia County better then Santa Rosa but at least they respect court security for a hierarchy.

You poor soul, you have to meet the same standards as everyone else that wants to be promoted to Sgt. Oh the horror. If you think Escambia is so much better, no one is holding you hostage.
