    Same ole same ole

An untrained cop from another state completely screws up, and our knee jerk reaction is to take away the vnr? Kneeling on a guys neck for 10 minutes is not a vnr. We work for morons.

The same way SPD thinks its ok to put your knee on an African Americans neck, is the same reason African Americans on the Force (YOUR OFFICERS) can't and won't get promoted.
CHIEF DIPINO where were you when your Deputy Chief took a knee in solidarity? Its your department, you are responsible for your staff's actions. Where is your News conference telling that young African American man you are sorry for your Officers actions?
You talk about transparency, you only released this because someone leaked it to the media, so you had to address it. This happened weeks ago!
    Let's talk transparency.....
How many African American Officers on your Force are in Supervisory Positions?
How many are Field Training Officers (FTO's).....0
    How many are Sergeants?.........0
    How many are Lieutenants?........0
    How many are Detectives?.........0
How many are Motorcycle Police Officers?........0
How many on the Marine/Dive Team?.......0
How many on the Street Crimes Unit?.......0
    How many are on Narcotics?........0

Do you have statistics on blacks who applied to this department 20+ years ago? Do you remember Chief Mike Hollaway?

Lets remember the current Chief and her appalling statistics while she has been Chief shall we.
I do know that the blacks were disqualified for less reasons then their white counterparts during the application process. I do know that SPD has fired way more black officers for less then what the white officers are not being fired for. Example ie: report writing skills, unable to locate a direction in a timely manner. REALLY... well the squad cars are equipped with GPS anyways, and you offer a report writing class (can we say remediation). But lets keep them (white officers) on the force (on paid vacation) for calling black people monkeys and putting their knees on blacks necks, lets do that.
Lets keep paying our tax payer funded money for lawsuits because of this out in the open racism, hope your fine with that taxpayers of the City of Sarasota.
City Commissioners and Mayors, you just as culpable. YOU KNOW THE STATISTICS TOO AND DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. START WITH ASKING QUESTIONS SUCH AS......
    1. WHY ARE THERE NO BLACKS IN THE UPPER MANAGEMENT OF SPD. NOT EVEN ONE TOKEN BLACK PERSON.
    2. HOW MANY BLACKS PUT IN FOR PROMOTIONS/TRAINING BUT WERE TURNED DOWN FOR FRIVIOUS REASONS ONLY TO HAVE WHITE PEOPLE TAKE THE TRAINING.
    3. HOW MANY MANY BLACK OFFICERS (THE FEW THAT YOU DO HAVE) HAVE YOU SPOKE TO TO SEE IF THEY FEEL THEY WERE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST FOR TRAINING OR PROMOTIONS. THE NUMBERS WOULD BE SHOCKING AND OFF THE CHARTS.

How many black SPD officers still retained their jobs after getting arrested for pushing an airline attendant while intoxicated?

Since you know the number so well. Tell me how many African American officers took the last 3 promotional exams? 1 and he was made acting sgt before he realized it wasn't for him. How many African American officers put in for specialty units since the chief has taken office? BS, TC, DH each got the positions they put in for. So if an African American wanted to get promoted they would need to at least take the test.

Speaking of retention of new officers. Please do more research on your alledged numbers, because they are on par for all races.

    Well lets see here.....
OFFICER "A" gets all the training they put in for, gets the specialty units and gets their desired shift. Then we have......
OFFICER "B" gets nothing, no training, no specialty unit, not even preferred shift so they have nothing in their employee file/jacket. Why in the heck would they go before a promotional board for you to tell OFFICER "BLACK" Well we wanted to promote you but you don't have anything in your file, no training, no specialty units, nothing. Geez we really wanted you but.....hahaha, give me a break.
Don't hate the messenger, hate your numbers. As a matter of fact, how much has SPD paid out in the last 3 years for discrimination or EEO Complaints? Oh yeah, I forgot those figures are confidential.
Numbers don't lie and you can't hide them, sorry.
