    Question Troop L Aux?

How's the unit there? Are they hiring? Do they have the opportunity for take homes? It doesnt seem like any other local reserve units are signing on new people.
Generic responses that fhpa sucks or other useless info is not needed, thanks!

    How's the unit there:
One of the most active and largest Troops (by number of members) in the Auxiliary. The Troop is either 1st or 2nd (out of 10 Troops) each year in number of hours volunteered. The members are a really good, accomplished, group of guys who are great friends on and off duty.

The current FHPA Statewide Commander is a 40 (yes, 40) year FHPA member and former FHPA Palm Beach District Commander and FHPA TROOP L Commander.

Do they have the opportunity for take homes:
Yes, however this program is at the discretion of
    A. The FHP Colonel
    B. The FHP Chief in charge of Special Services (including Auxiliary)
    C. The FHP Troop Commander

At any time, any one of those officers could end the program. But as of right now, yes certain FHPA Members have take-homes. Now, here's the most important part: To even drive (not take home, just drive) a car by ones self, an FHPA Member usually has around 2-3 years of experience with FHPA and at least in Troop L all of the guys with take-homes have at least a decade with the FHPA. Cars are assigned by the FHP Troop Commander based on a multitude of factors including time on the Auxiliary, activity, etc. So with all those caveats, a take-home should not ever factor into the decision to come on to the Auxiliary.

    Are they hiring:

Yes! FHPA, especially Troop L has a very robust recruiting program.

Go to www.fhpa.info to request a meeting with a recruiter.
