His name in Philadelphia and up until high-school was Gregory Scott Toney. When he arrived in Florida he left his gang banging, murdering, drug-dealing and using, thuggish, crime-riddled life full of beatings (the giver and receiver) from a broken home full of incest and other sexual abuse. In college he changed his name to Greg Tony. He then decided, after 9/11 moved him to join the Marines and soon after Gregory S. Tony, super-cop-applicant was born.

I doubt he legally changed it. Florida State has his name as Greg Tony so his college records/applications would have to be reviewed. When he tried for ALLLL those law enforcement agencies, he was bragging with his college football jersey "TONY" so he couldn't revert back to "Toney" the murderer plus he had to leave his entire "TONEY" life behind. He flat-out lied and misled FSU and all LEO. It would be one thing if he played around with his first name, calling himself G. Scott Toney or Greg Toney or Gregory S. Toney but you can't mess around with the surname.

So he was sworn in as Sheriff under an alias name? Is that legal? Wouldn’t changing your name to conceal a criminal background and lying to FDLE be a clear cut crime? And automatic decertification?
I hope the FBI & FDLE are starting their investigation with the name change. Tony has a real problem telling the truth but he will not be able to lie to them anymore. The Governor needs to step in as soon as Tony or Toney is arrested.
