Everyone deserves a second chance, you are right. But:
1) Not when you are being (blindly) appointed to a position like Sheriff
2) Do you believe any of you fellow LEOS would have been given a second chance under the same circumstances?
Perhaps only if you had a "friend" who talked to the Governor. This is not the way these kinds of positions should be filled; not in the past, now, in the future, nor never.

There's a big difference between a cop getting a second chance and someone being sheriff. Either way, Toney's second chance (as a cop) was not earned through remorse and redemption. He got it through straight up denial and deceit.
