Are the proactive days gone?

Looking to lateral down to florida after 5 years in VA. Trying to stick to a larger department that supports proactive work. Any honest opinions from a non disgruntled officer on whether st pete or local agencies support that type of work these days?

Be careful what you read on here. Any large city department is gonna have guys with 15+ years that tell you being a proactive cop is done and you’re putting yourself at risk for wanting to get after it. As cops we have to adapt and overcome. When Miranda Vs. Arizona came out you had guys saying that’s the end of policing, just like guys saying body cams are the end of policing. If you do your job the right way you’ll be fine.

Just follow SOPs laws and departments rules and regs and you will be fine.
