    Broward County - Next Election - Nov 03, 2020

    Filing Window - Jun 15, 2020 - Jun 19, 2020

    Description

The Sheriff of Broward County administers the largest fully accredited sheriff's office in the United States with 5,800 employees and an annual operating budget of $730 million. The Sheriff's office is responsible for providing law enforecement services to communities that do not have their own municipal police forces, and the sheriff's office also will coordinate with municipal police to assist in cases. The Sheriff's office is also responsible for overseeing the county jail, and providing Broward County elected officials with law enforcement information.

I'm interested in running for this office

    Application Guidelines

To become a candidate, you must:

    1. File Form DS-DE 9, Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository with the elections administrator (usually the County or City Clerk’s office) prior to collecting contributions or making expenditures on behalf of your campaign, and prior to opening a campaign account.

    2. Designate a primary campaign depository with any bank, savings and loan association, or credit union authorized to do business in the State of Florida. The campaign account must be separate from any personal or other account and used only for depositing campaign contributions and making expenditures. All contributions must be deposited into such account and all expenditures must be drawn by a check on such account. All deposits must be accompanied by a bank deposit slip containing the name of each contributor and the amount contributed by each.

    3. File Form DS-DE 84, Statement of Candidate within ten days after filing Form DS-DE 9 (the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer). There is usually only a one week qualifying period for Florida races, so please contact the election administrator (County or City Clerk) to verify the dates. A financial disclosure is required and the candidate must take a loyalty oath. If you have questions regarding an election, county elections departments and the Florida Elections Division are excellent resources. Broward County has a guide for candidates that can be found here:

    http://www.browardsoe.org/Candidate-...me-a-Candidate

    Submit application to:
Broward County Supervisor of Elections, 201 S.E. 6th Street , Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33301, US
BSO needs a leader. There's still plenty of time to put up a viable candidate.

Former HCSO detective to run for sheriff, I-Team reports

TAMPA, Fla. -- A former Hillsborough County detective says he is running to take over as the Hillsborough County Sheriff.

The candidate, Charles Boswell, also has a pending lawsuit against the current sheriff, Chad Chronister, along with several other current and former employees of HCSO.

Boswell said he was forced to retire after 25 years. He filed a federal employment discrimination lawsuit in 2018, alleging corruption and that his bosses cheated him out of benefits.

A jury trial is set for this summer. Boswell told I-Team Investigator Kylie McGivern that voters and deputies in Hillsborough County deserve better.

Chronister's campaign manager told the I-Team Chronister will campaign on his record, saying, "No matter how many candidates get in the race, crime is down [by] double digits for two straight years."

Two other candidates, Ronald McMullen and Gary Pruitt, are also running for sheriff. They have until June 12 to qualify to get on the ballot.

Israel is an STD and can’t run a convenience store.

The reason the public does not understand what the problems are is because no sheriff has taken the time or had the cojo*** to tell them, to educate them, to make them understand.

You have twice the number of calls going into 911 for stupid things like a lost cell phone, a bad cheeseburger order, and the dispatchers HAVE to send LEOs to all this stuff; even if it ultimately gets coded out. Do you know how many stupid calls LEOs have to go to because the dispatchers are forced via bad training to send you out for stupid calls.

Half of the retail store managers who call in to report a robbery. DON'T KNOW THEIR ADDRESS.

For goodness sakes, PARENTS don't know the address of their kids school, and neither do kids of high school age.

LEOs and dispatchers better unite and work together because this is all a mess due to deplorable and disgusting leadership from the Sheriff on down through communications, and every dispatcher and LEO who you speak to, who doesn't fear retaliation, will tell you this and lots more.

Also, there's a few retired judges around who would be excellent choices. Fry doesn't seem to be interested, but he may be able to suggest a candidate. Whomever you get to run, it must be someone that is articulate, non emotional and quick on their feet, and be someone that the public finds intertesting and wants to know more about. The spirit of the thing needs to be " I don't like Tony or Israel and she seems to be different from both of them." That's all you need for a win.
Hey OPRAH WINFREY! THAT'S exactly how we got into this mess you moron ! Your politically correct affirmative action is a dangerous failure ! No ..........we don't need a sheriff because of the person's race, gender , skin color or heterosexual or homosexual credentials!
Every failed Democratic city police department in the US has been thrown into chaos at times of crises because of that thinking with few exceptions. Does the name Capt Jan Jordan ring a bell?? Perfect example.
