So, this is really no big deal, on a national scale.
That's about one third of all officers that were murdered last year. All from one agency. That has not happened since 9/11. But to you it is no big deal? You are an asshole

Guess you shouldn’t be a first responder then. Last I checked we work whether there is a hurricane, riot, mass casualty event or virus. Nothing beast mode about doing my job. Take precautions and don’t be stupid. Maybe you should work at Walmart. By the way coward, you have a better chance of getting it going to Publix than you do going to a call. Quit and go hide at home if that’s what you need to do.

Exactly. The number of people killed in the MSDHS shooting was no big deal. And, apparently the Broward County School Board and the residents oif the county have done NOTHING to harden security at the schools to prevent a repeat of that incident. The level of security presently in place in Broward County [and throughout the State of Florida] is the same as it was at MSDHS on the day of the shooting.

But more in line with the COVID virus, what did this country do when we have 20,000+ dead from influenza this flu season, 60,000 dead last season ad 65,000 dead the year before in the US? Was this treated as being significant? Nah. Perspective.

It is 14 from a 35,000 man department in the area {NYC} with the highest number of deaths attributed to this virus in the country. Now, how many COVID related deaths of deputies have occurred in the piddly little 3000 man department that you work for? How many in Pinellas County [9 dead in the whole county]? I don't think you are at significant risk from COVID, where you work. Perhsps you shoyld self-quarantine for your own protection.

They said the EXACT same thing in New York six weeks ago.

What did they say in NYC six weeks ago?

Now, NYC has a population of over 8 million people living in roughly the same area as the less than 1 million people living in Pinellas County. NYC has a population density of 27,751/sq mi. Pinellas County has a population density of 3559/sq mi. Same area, 8x the population and 8x the population density. You do the math. Which area should have a higher number of both infections and deaths from an infectious disease?

Piddly? In terms of size, PCSO is in the top 1% of all law enforcement agencies nationwide. We are larger than FHP, more than twice the size of Tampa PD, and larger than every PD in the county combined.

NYPD cops are security guards compared to cops in Florida, since we are putting our balls on the table. NYPD Patrol barely arrests anyone. The detectives do all the heavy lifting on arrests. So NYPD may be large, but their street cops are lucky if they make 100 arrests in a career. They work in a dangerous environment and definitively in a larger city. But they manage as much as other cops. Their
Beats are smaller to compensate for the population. Stop acting like NYPD is the premiere police agency. Bigger isn’t better, just ask your wife.

You guys at the PCSO don't know much about math, stats, percentages and probability apparently. Otherwise it would be a big deal. It is the same reason kids enjoy scary amusement park rides. They don't know the meaning of the term catastrophic mechanical failure. Enjoy the ride.
