You can get a private security company, like Wakenhut or Vanguard, to do the same, or better. What a damn waste of money, to have your department.

And now they are screaming for hazard pay. Evidently they are getting bed sores from sitting on their butts all day.

    SROs

Who ever started this thread, does not understand the concept of the school resource officer. All persons hired by the district get sent to the same police academy all cops go through and they get sent to SRO training. The concept is, all SROs are Florida certified police officers . They are endowed with the same arrest powers as all municipal, county and state police. The SRO was placed in schools to prevent potential crimes by their very presence and deal with crimes that occur on school campuses across their jurisdictions. The program is so effective, crimes on campus were reduced to such a degree, that the SRO is really the envy of outside agencies because now, many SROs enjoy a Mayberry equivalent in their arenas. Their clients, students and employees enjoy a peaceful work environment. Because the SRO is present. Unlike the regular patrol officer who because he or she is constantly running from call to call, suffering from adrenal burnout and eventually gets heart disease, stress, prone to alcoholism and prone to commit domestic violence on their own families, The SRO is much healthier mentally and has a positive effect on his clients. We are a specialized unit. Don't get me wrong, if you chose patrol more power to you. Our position was created for a niche in society. Don't hate on us because you're jealous we make decent salaries. In fact, I see more patrol units parked in front of convenience stores for litterally hours everyday I'm sure you're just trying to get a breather from the stress and it's no secret many burnt out city cops leave their cities to get that cushy career with weekends off, paid holidays, personal, vacation days and sick days.

The SRO are the only cops with a life.
So if you want to attack your fellow officers, just remember, we are on the same frequencies your city and county folks are on and when your getting your ass kicked by a Charlie Street and you need a 3-15 you will not care what agency or uniform your savior is wearing when he shows up to save your life.

That's right kid. We SROs have left our zones to help troopers, city cops, county cops and other agencies near our schools, who needed 3-15. Even though it's not mandatory to leave but we do it out of duty and it is the right thing to do.

Schools are closed, but essential employees work there to prep schools for opening so we patrol from school to school to check on them, respond to 25s, 26s , 14s 34s student wellness 43s checks, virtual schooling is in progress , some calls come in regarding depressed or missing children. Investigate hacking events to the virtual system ECT. We have things to keep us busy. If it's a quiet day, that's real a real plus mostly area checks to make sure no unauthorized person enter schools to steal computers equipment ect. So if you're looking to make the switch, you will certainly enrich your life. Hope this helped your curiosity.

You forgot to mention our Pina coladas too on weekends, while we relax on our mypillows.Com. And after you succumb to your heart attack, diabetics, suicide, we will look down in your casket and and say "you win you were the bravest cop of them all" and we will salute you and go back to business as usual. 🤭
