Otherwise healthy people are putting their stories online saying this not like a flu, it is ten times worse. Some are saying it is the sickest they have ever felt. Others are saying it is very hard to breathe and others that have had it are saying their doctors are telling them that they will have permanent lung scarring. So, it is NOT just like a flu. Go ahead and be a tough guy and let us know how it works out for you and your whole family.

There are also many who have had the virus who are saying that it is no wore than the flu. And, the number of people who have had the virus, and never received medical attention, keeps rising. Also, we have no idea of the extent of any "permanent lung scarring"? Why, because all of those reports come from extreme cases which required hospitalization and all such cases are fresh, within a month. Lung tissue can and does regenerate, ask any former smoker.
What is happening here, is that you, and a number of other people, are simply believing the media hype concerning the virus. Now the department is not going to issue you positive pressure suits. And, if you have ever had an hazmat training, especially in Florida, then you know that you can only function for a couple of hours in a sealed suit. So, what do you expect the agency to do? If you are that terrified of this virus, I suggest that you simply resign from any job, including LE, which involves public contact and get into a field where you can sit in a cave and telecommute to work. Hey, I survived, the Bird Flu, SARS, the Swine Flu, thee anthrax scare 9/11, several hurricanes and criminal assault. So, i am not too worried about the latest media generated health scare.

First, testing positive does not mean that you are infected or contagious. All it means is that you have been exposed. Also, as the virus is spread through airborne delivery, usually coughing or sneezing, wearing a mask, when you have tested positive, will stop the spread of the virus by those means. And, as wider testing becomes available, that is exactly what you are going to see. Businesses have to continue in operation. They can not simply shut down because their employees have been exposed to a virus. We can not afford to shut down our society either. This is NOT the bubonic plague, after all. And if people do not want to call the poice, because theyh are afraid of contracting COVID-19, that is their choice.

So then why are so many major businesses and events shutting down if it is no big deal. I've never heard or seen of a ban on travel to Europe over nothing. I've never seen playoffs and sports seasons cancelled over nothing. I've never seen the entire World simultaneously worried about the one disease.

Because the media has blown it into a big deal, scaring the weak-minded. Businesses and the government have to look like they are proactive juuuuuust in case it becomes a big deal so they don’t look like they screwed up. The swine flu ten years ago was just as bad but the media didn’t go crazy.

Politics and liability issues. The politicians are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The liberals weaponized the COVID situation in order to attack Trump. But, this is a two edged sword. Now politicians are afraid NOT to do something or be hoist by their own petard. Major businesses will take a hit, to their profits, to avoid subsequent litigation. They also get to show their "concern" for the population [LOL].
the world is worried because the populous, in nearly every country, is not happy with their leadership, including politicians. The media, blew this whole thing up into an apocalyptic disease, based upon spurious formation and unsupported conjecture. And, the media will not let it go. For weeks the media has been claiming that the mortality rate of COVID was 2-8 percent of those infected. However, as the world health community gains more accurate facts, that rate has dropped to 0.6% and will probably drop even lower, as more non-hospitalized cases are identified and natural immunization occurs. With this information and trend, the media has switched to suggesting that everyone who contracts the virus will suffer significant, life-long scarring of the lungs. When one argument is proven false or ineffective, make up a new one.
Outside of certain small, high-risk populations, the only thing that COVID-19 really poses a threat to is the economy. If a small business sees a 50%, or more, decrease in revenue, for more than a month, that business is likely to fail and close. Then you have the service employees who work for tips or have no paid sick leave? How do they pay their bills for a month or more? Not even the recently passed Bill in the U.S. House addresses businesses with less than 50 employees working PER DAY. COVID is serious, especially to high-risk populations. But, it is steadily beginning to look less and less serious as we get more facts on it.

Yes the media outlets use scare tactics for ratings. However, The entire world to include our enemies do not watch our " stream media" and would not lockdown their country for our politics... if this was just a United States issue I would 100% believe that theory. But it isn't.
Dont listen to the media or the "social media Google experts". Listen to the ones with WHO and the CDC and the doctors and scientists trying to figure this out.
