There will be no masks issued. There is a shortage and hospitals can't even get them. You already have hand sanitizer, but that may run out too. What type of protective equipment do you think there is? There isn't any other than NO CONTACT. So, how are you going to do your job without making contact?

There have also been reports of pulling people over and they hold up a sign saying "I have Coronavirus" in the window, or sneezing all over their driver's license before they hand it to you. What do you do next?

For most LEOs, the corona virus should be m worse than the flu. The same for children and most spouses. Elderly family members are another story, so it would be wise to limit contact with them. Now, the big problem is not contracting the virus, but what your department will do about it. Are they going to make anyone who tests positive stay home for 14-30 days? How will this effect the LE mission. Jails and correction facilities are, potentially, a big problem. Many inmates have medical conditions which put them at risk. What to do with them? Again, though the risk of contracting the virus is higher for jail personnel, due to the enclosed environment in which they work, it is beginning to look as though COVID will be only slightly more serious, for the general population, than the flu. If you are not at risk, your chances of having a serious case of the virus is low. However, manpower shortages can be crippling.

Actually, there is really no reason for anyone in LE to stay home if they test positive, or are no longer symptomatic. So far, the only verified method of communication is from mucus membrane to mucus membrane. This is largely a result of airborne particles from a cough or, to a far lesser degree a sneeze. So, an asymptomatic LEO can simply work wearing a common surgical mask, lightly sprayed with a disinfectant, such as Lysol. What has happened, is that the media has turned COVID into an apocalyptic disease. And, the media sparked a panic about it and now the politicians are doing stupid things to make it look like they are actually doing something.
