In 2004, a virus leak from a Chinese laboratory caused an outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), killing one person and infecting nine others. Communist Party officials said the leak was a result of negligence – and senior officials at the Institute of Virology were punished.

In 2018, the state-run People's Daily newspaper said it is “capable of conducting experiments with highly pathogenic microorganisms” such as the deadly Ebola virus.

In 2019, unverified local reports surfaced that workers at the Virology Institute were infected with Covid-19 after being sprayed by blood – and then they carried the infection into the local Chinese population. Beijing News identified researcher Huang Yanling as “patient zero” – the first person to be infected. A study by the South China University of Technology concluded that Covid-19 probably originated in the Institute of Virology – but shortly after its publication, the scientific paper was removed from a scientific networking site.

In 2020, senior British officials, which receive classified intelligence briefings, say that it is no longer ruled out that: “Covid-19 leaked from a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan – and spread to humans.”

Professor Richard Ebright of Rutgers University's Waksman Institute of Microbiology has seen evidence that scientists at the Institute of Virology studied viruses with only “level 2” security – rather than the recommended level 4.

Coronavirus is a very intelligently designed bioweapon and recurrence rates are high. As a trained epidemiologist, there are a high cluster of cases in Iran because Chinese scientists were there, working on a bio-weapon which escaped.

A scientific Australian study published at Cornell University (website arXiv.org) concludes that COVID-19, which easily infects humans, contains unique properties that are not naturally found in animals, including bats sold at a Wuhan meat market, which is adjacent to a biosecurity lab that studies how to manipulate COVID viruses.

Scientists suspect human manipulation of COVID-19 because of the “unmatched ability of the virus’ protruding spike to infect human cells.” The virus’ binding strength for human cells “far exceeds” similar properties for infecting animals – suggesting it was not the result of a natural occurrence.

The lead researcher said: “No corresponding virus is found in nature.”
