Those are completely different things, and a terrible comparison. One of the duties of the traffic unit is to assist road patrol with crashes.
When the road is getting destroyed with calls, and you guys wanna sit there and pull over Stacy the housewife while 4 crashes pend meanwhile deputies are going alone to 22D’s, people are going to have issues with it.
Heard they were thinking about getting rid of the traffic unit anyways. Rookie FHP troopers do a better job.

If guys are going to 22D’s by themselves, that is poor management by the supervisor of that shift and poor officer safety of zone partners.
Accreditation requires the sheriffs office to have a traffic unit. So the traffic unit would never go away. But it does not speak well if you’re relying on FHP to do all your crashes.

Rip ?
Why would this mean his career is over?
Because he won’t be told do certain things that may be right or wrong merely “Because it’s an election year!” Just like when the rumor was going around that we weren’t allowed to write tickets “Because it’s an election year” and you may be “Citing a potential voter.” I’m sure there’s politics everywhere but not to the level of LCSO.
Better yet our agency should be more diligent on figuring out why we continue to lose good people.
