It was put to a vote and was overwhelmingly for 12’s. That’s because millennials can’t handle crappy days off and waiting for seniority. So every other weekend off made them happy. 12’s coat more money. The Sheriff could care less, he went with what the majority wanted, so it’s not what he wanted. It’s what you asked for.

That’s a lie. You are either a liar or were not here for the vote. The vote was 85% for 12’s.

98% or sheriffs offices in FL are on 12’s. Stop being lazy ****s and crying about it. I have friends at several other agencies and none of them cry about being on 12’s. The only people crying about it are the ones here Bc you of 2 reasons...1. You people will literally find anything to complain about Bc it’s in your nature and you’re not happy unless your complaining to someone about something. 2. Your lazy fuks who for some reason gravitated to this agency. We seem to have a lot of you lazy miserabl whiney fuks here.

The sheriff wanted 12s, as it would save him money, but he couldn't go back on his promise that patrol would never go to 12s. So he left it up to a vote, knowing the millennials would vote for them so they wouldn't have to do their time and wait for seniority for weekends off. Smart man.

That's BS. There were 3 surveys and 8s won every time by over 80%, with independent count of the votes. Aside from a few youngsters who wanted to go to clubs on weekends, everyone voted to keep the 8 hour shifts. A few suggested 10 hour shifts but the administrations shot them down.
The only reason the administration forced 12s on us was to save money on the budget, per the county. Kids, family life, school, pets, etc ? Don't like it ? Oh well, deal with it, if you don't like it there's the door. That was the answer when a few people mentioned going back to 8s.
