In b4 it's not professional to wear bdus, shorts or polo shirts..

While airport district does all of the above

This is not to put anyone on blast, it’s a simple request from a silver badge. I think it’s 2020, there should be a way to look professional and stay comfortable in this South Florida weather. Let’s be honest we already allow facial hair and 5 years ago that wasn’t allowed.

Uh facial hair had always been allowed via memo going back to the early 2000. Just there weren't a bunch of whiney millennials that had to make up medical issues to get it just to be hip.

Has there been a memo making it okay to wear it now?

Submit potential models and most importantly, contrast their cost to the current uniform ensemble. When dealing with a massive bureaucracy, such as the County, cost is a significant element whether or not the change is accepted.

Go look at the new uniforms that Putnam County Sheriff Office came out with for deputies. It’s an olive green bdu and shirt with an olive green out vest. It looks good.

The uniform issue is a matter for the 2024, newly-elected Sheriff to address or not. What is key now and in the future, is the "cost savings" clause in Sheriff's DeLoach's comment. Bureaucracy, whether appointed or elected are generally moved by "cost savings." For now, our venerable "Brown Gown" remains MDPD's "sigil." [1]

"Sheriff DeLoach approved the idea of a change in duty uniforms as it would 'enhance the health and safety of our deputies and will result in cost savings for our residents."

    [1] Sigil? Yes, MDPD's symbol.

Our command staff would never approve that. They took that away from specialized units because it provided a negative image in their head.

The problem here is what have uninspired leadership that is 💯 afraid to shake the tree or do something that might garder some basement dwelling activists wrath.

You could litterally write a 15 page action memo on why we need new uniforms and the second they see it requires work to implement, you will get the ole we will think about it routine as they shred it behind your back.
