“The day after the country celebrated the nation’s foremost civil rights leader, fallout from a racially insensitive remark made by Miami’s most controversial cop continued.

The president of the local chapter of the NAACP called Miami Police Capt. Javier Ortiz’s remarks “a huge slap in the face to our community,” argued the captain should be fired and said he was penning a letter to city leaders. And the city’s police chief said he had meetings scheduled with staff in human resources and with city attorneys about how to move forward.”

Ortiz might have more trouble than he realizes when the NAACP and Carollo get together to oust him. Carollo will soon control the Commission and the new Manager. Chief Colina is going to see he will be doing what Carollo wants when the new Manager starts pestering him. The MPD will soon change back to a Carollo controlled Department like before.
History is going to repeat itself.

Oh by the way....just heard from an old timer that in the early 1970’s an outside Chief came in (Garmire) and he had a problem with three Captains. To take care of the problem a small desk was placed at the old entrance of the MPD, 1145 NW 11 Street. Each Captain was assigned to man the desk. Within a few days/weeks the three Captains retired.

Ortiz is headed for the same faith.....
